The 88th Song [Actiiiooon!]

[The place: The kitchen of the Hringhorni, the feared pirate ship captained by a bear.

The scene: Rapunzel, the ship's cook/treasure-catcher, is preparing lunch. Now, since they haven't been back to port in a while, and they sacrificed a good deal of their fish stock to both their captain and the kraken they recently encountered, there's not reaaaally a lot for her to work with.

But they've got supplies. Somewhere. So, she's digging through cabinets and chests, pulling out whatever she can find.]

Salt, check...flour, check...I could make a fresh batch of hard tack, but nobody likes that. Hm.

Maybe we have cabbage in here somewhere for sauerkraut...wish I didn't hate saurkraut...

[And so she continues to hunt and think about what to prepare. Mayhaps you wish to join her in the kitchen?]

[ooc: Open to all members of ~~the best/worst pirate crew ever~~ the Hringhorni's crew, as well as whoever else wants to join in. Because pirates. And cooking. Cooking Mama: Pirate Edition.]

[ To say Scott is enamored with the cook and her golden tresses would be putting it lightly. A disdain for his life before and the yearning to find more, to see beyond the science is what brought him out in the first place. Yes, he doubts the good luck charm and yes, he side-eyes the bear captain every chance he gets but it's Rapunzel's hair that captures him. What is it about her?

He finds himself milling about outside the kitchen, a book in hand. Stopping outside the doorway, he moves from one side to the other. Don't mind him, Rapunzel. Then he stops, looks up from his textbook. ]

There is urchin, is there not? Good afternoon, Rapunzel.

Let me check...I think we still have urchin, anyway...

[She gives Scott a winning smile, straightening up and brushing herself off.]

Good afternoon, Mr. Scott! What can I do for ya?

Might I spend some time?

[ Watch you cook. He's not the greatest cook out there. He admires it, so. And you. ]

You might.

[She smiles, going back to cabinet hunting.]

You got a preference for lunch?

Only that you prepare it.

[ He takes a seat on a nearby wooden chair. He sits back knees spread just watching, slouched down. ]

Well, that's good! We be running low on supplies...

[She sighs, squirming around in a cabinet. They have to have cabbages in here somewhere...]

If I can find cabbages, we may be stuck with sauerkraut again.

But if we have honey, I could do something special!

[HONEY CAKE BITCHES!]

If only the Navy weren't thorns in our sides.

[ They have to! Squirm some more, though. Nice ass. I mean, what? ]

Honey is pleasing.

Aye...we'd eat like kings if not for them.

[AH! There appears to be something far in the back of this particular cabinet! And so she goes further in, squirming all the way.]

Yes! I think I found cabbage! If its not too moldy or covered in maggots, I can do sauerkraut!

[An she squirms her way back out, hair a bit of a mess.]

Ta daah! Now, if I can find honey that hasn't been claimed by the captain, I can make honey cakes for later.

We'd be kings. And queens.

[ A head tilt. Why the view is just getting better and better. He looks up at her face, however, when she emerges. ]

The captain can't partake in every jar of honey.

Aye, we would be. We'd be better rulers than the fat lards in power.

[She smiles a little.]

But he's the captain! He can do as he pleases!

The bloated, self-aggrandizing wealthy.

You do believe what you say?

[She sighs, nodding. Stupid fat leader folks.]

At least at sea, we're free men. And women, as it were.

Well, he is the captain...and he's a bear. It doesn't seem wise to argue with him.

Freedom. There isn't anything better.

A bear. Exeunt. Followed by a bear. We are living in A Winter's Tale, m'lady.

Amen to that, friend.

[She can't help but chuckle at that.]

And that is why I listen to the captain.

Would it not be why you shan't. Only one ca comprehend our captain. One of a crew.

I trust Mr. Thor. He's a good, honorable man, and the captain hasn't steered us wrong yet.

Until the kraken.

...aye...but we're all alive! And the ship is intact!

Presently.

Try to be optimistic about the future! We're still okay, ship's intact, and while we've got few supplies, we'll make a stop soon to pick up more.

[This is a big ship. Captain Flash managed to climb aboard - that was the easy part - mostly undetected. His intention was to go straight to the captain's cabin, but because whatever, he got lost on the way and is now stopping into every room, occupied or not, proclaiming:]

YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR THE CRIME OF PIRACY AND TRESPASSING IN THE QUEEN'S WATERS! GO QUIETLY, CAPTAIN, AND YOU WILL NOT FACE MY WR--oh.

[She's not a bear.]

[OH GOD ITS ONE OF THE QUEEN'S MEN! How in God's green earth did he even get in here? Well, she's not going to jail, so she reacts quickly: She screams, grabs the nearest cast iron skillet, and swings it at the interloper.

No, she is not a bear. But she is now officially armed.]

What do ye' think you're doing, spouting off like that? You're gonna get yourself killed!!

[She doesn't want blood in her kitchen, or a dead body, neither.]

[Duck! Nice try, lady! Lady? Blink, blink.]

Fear not, young miss! Are you being held prisoner?! Come, I will return you to your home.

[He reaches out for her, because surely such a pretty young woman wouldn't be a pirate.]

[She shrieks again, swinging again. She is NOT going back home. NEVER EVER.]

I'm no prisoner! I'm the cook!

[Prooooobably not smart to mention that she's the treasure catcher either. So she won't.]

[He dodges and zips behind her.]

Madam! Please! Do not succumb to hysteria. You are obviously delirious with relief that I have come to rescue you.
