[ The memory kicks in with Jim and Leonard in their cadet uniforms, the latter trying to get through to his distracted friend. There's a sense of needing to be active and occupied until he takes the Kobayashi Maru test again tomorrow, higher stakes pitted on his side this time; his feet lead him to Gaila's room where he wastes some time before Nyota Uhura returns ("You can hear me breathing?") and kicks him out.

The scene flickers to the set of the Kobayashi Maru, Spock's old program, and from Jim's perspective he's being more attentive than he looks where he's lounging in the captain's chair. The subroutine goes as planned while he holds off inputting any more commands, thereby activating it via newly installed pathways through Gaila's stolen codes, and he munches cheerily on an apple as he swans around his bewildered fake crew, chomping loudly and obnoxiously as he glances up to the instructors above.

Third time's a charm, he thinks smugly, taking a bigger bite. ]

( OOC: Jim's memories are broadcasting of the Kobayashi Maru, an exam at Starfleet Academy. It runs at 29:32-33:11 on
the nosvideo link, not including the hearing after. If the HD link doesn't work, try this! Jim is unaware of the post at the time of it hitting the network. )

Very well. I could argue that the leeway is not yours to grant or revoke, but I'll choose my battles.

Do come visit me, sometime? I've gotten a job at the library. Not your favourite spot, I'm sure, but it could do you quite a bit of good to stop in.

[Yes he just implied you can't read. Smug villain smirk.]

[Hey, he has to amuse himself somehow. Needling you is a good way to go.]

Is that so surprising? Hitler was a painter. Pol Pot was a teacher of French and history. Why can't the great Khan be a librarian?

Besides, it is next to a charming cafe, within walking distance of my flat, and I am undisturbed to read and relax.

...Duly noted.

Honestly, Captain. I'm not a casual killer. I don't go mugging little old ladies in the street or gunning down rival gang members over drug deals. I hate killing. I hate the violence necessary in human nature. And if you thought a little harder on my motives, you'd understand that.

That I've been enjoying my time at my job. Which is the gospel truth.

Out of curiosity, how many other members of Starfleet are here? I promise I'm not making grandiose plans, I'm simply curious. Perhaps if we had a census from our world, we could determine why we're being brought here.

[More eye rolling. God come ooooooon you're being obstreperous.]

...Very well. I shouldn't be surprised you're refusing my help. I'll continue my research on my own, then. I'll let you know if I discover anything useful.

[Kirk why are you such a little shit?]

I'm certain I will.

[Oh but we could be such good friends. Opposite sides of the same coin etc. etc. Conquering the galaxy as father and son, c'mon. Oh well, mission accomplished, the sneakiness is over at least.]
