[ Give him a second to double check, yes, yes it's on now. Cool. He's not used to this. He was never a big face-timer. He's used to talking on a phone. This is sort of like a webcam. He holds it out, making sure his face is in frame. He hopes he gets a good angle. He's also in one of the grocery stores. Look at the produce behind him. ]

Hey, is there an animal clinic or, a vet in the city? [ Since his best firend is no longer sick, he needs more of a routine. Herego, clinic. ] I know there's a hospital. But, is there an animal hospital? And I heard that someone wanted to build a school but never did. What do teenagers do here? [ Besides, drink underage? No parental supervision! ]

Also, anybody who saw the rabbit. He wasn't lying. The cures. They're different. For everyone. I helped my best friend. Does anybody need me to do anything? [ Unless it's over. But, he's available! ]

I'm stocking up on food. Any requests? [ He's used to buying for him and his mom. Or, ordering in. But, he's living with them. It's the least he can do, right? ]

I was sixteen when I first got here and I just sort of... hung around for a bit? But I eventually started working.

[Hi, Scott. This is the first time Ginny's actually speaking to you and not just texting things. So maybe it's a bit odd that she acts like she knows you. And while she does still sound a bit rough, she's gotten much better.]

[ The cereal is now diamonds. ]

You literally aged a billion years when I was passed out, didn't you? [ He sounds so judgemental. But hey, at least he's back in the serial killer shack. ]

[ But nobody turned her into a newt! Sounds like she has gotten better. As for her voice, he doesn't exactly know who this is until she tells him. But, he'll be friendly. The friendliest. Stiles is going to be all right. It's a good day, Ginny! ]

I've worked for a year now. Feels weird not to. [ Even just for a few days. Even with werewolf drama, he's managed to make his clinic hours. He's that responsible. ] Where do you work?

[ Now it's tickets to that thing you like! ]

All we had was ramen. I thought I'd contribute. [ Also, way to thank him for his best friend performance. ] Also, I'll always be older than you. In every dimension.

Kids your age are usually pleased as punch they don't have to go to school. [ When Bucky was Scott's age he had already left. ]

I was a waitress for a bit at the Blue Light. It's this lovely jazz club and bar. Then a friend of mine left his clothing boutique to me and another friend and when she left, I kept it on, and I'm still overseeing the place. My brothers also opened up this joke shop and when they went home, my other brother took over, but he left too, so I'm running that place as well.

[Pause.]

I, er, keep busy. I'd much rather play sports professionally but that isn't going to happen in the City, so I'm doing all that instead.

[ Looking a lot better than he would have done the last time they spoke, if he hadn't been using text, Jim's at the Hall of the Missing. Seated on a bench in civilian clothing, he clicks the feed to private immediately; who knows what Khan decides to pay attention to. ]

Scott, right? Stiles' friend. I've got a request, if you wouldn't mind hearing it out — it's Jim, by the way, Jim Kirk. We spoke last time when I was sick.

[ He's heard about these elusive snow days. But, most of the time, he didn't get days off. Breaks, of course. But, they included hanging with Stiles. Or, working more. To help his mom out. ]

School's important, right? [ Good grades and good... grades? ]

[ Not... who he expected to respond. How great is this? A request from Jim Kirk? ]

Right. I remember. Hey Jim. [ Keeping it cool. Where is he? He doesn't recognize the background - pictures. Is he at an art gallery? ] You're feeling better, too. [ GOOD! ]

You're running two businesses? [ WOW. Scott's an underachiever in comparison. ] What do you play? [ Or, what did you play? ] I'm on the lacrosse team. And the cross country team.

Hey. [ His smile widens a touch, because who doesn't like warm receptions? Not this guy. ] Look, uh. This is going to sound weird, I know I don't have any real connection to you guys and I don't want to spread a mass panic, but I thought I should warn you that there's a dangerous criminal from my world here. He's called John Harrison and I'd appreciate it if you'd ask Stiles to keep quiet about me and my crew. Not mentioning us by name or profession, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't want anything to happen to either of you. I know Stiles is a good guy, you probably are too if you're his friend.

Well, yeah, but one of them's sort of become the family business, you know? And the other... was a promise. I've got managers and things— [LOL NPC ONES] —but technically I'm running it, too. It's kind of a handful.

[She laughs, pleased to move on to sports because that's her thing.]

You've probably never heard of what I play. Lacrosse... that's the thing with sticks, right?

[ Scott, too. He is prince of warm receptions. He is a puppy. He listens to the entire spiel. Anything Jim Kirk has to say is important. John Harrison. He recognizes the name immediately. Scott's a little proud he called it right. ]

I talked to him. So did Stiles. He offered to cure him. With his blood. He said it had regenerative properties. I told Stiles to watch what he said. How dangerous is he?

That's really cool, though. Impressive.

[ Oh, well then. ]

Yeah. And nets. And a ball.

Just doing what needs to be done.

[She pauses again, sounding amused.]

You don't remember me, do you? This is Ginny.

He what? [ Swearing, Jim rubs a hand over his eyes. ] God damn it, that fucking —

[ Psychopath. Offering children his blood? What the hell was he trying to do, create his own mini army of diluted Augments? Bribe them into his favor? ]

If you see him in person, don't let him know you're aware of his record. Smile, laugh, whatever, but you get out of there as seamlessly and as quickly as possible. Neither of you mentions anything to do with me or Starfleet.

You did good, Scott.

Oh. Hi! Sorry. We texted. Where are you from? [ Because of the accent! ] England?

Dear old England, yeah. Devon, if we're being exact, so it's all farms and little villages. I miss it.

And you're from California. Friends with Stiles, right? Glad to hear he's doing better.

He seemed off, though. Hopefully, other people get the same vibe. So, you are feeling better?

Best friends. And me too. Thanks for the heads up. The talking rabbit. [ Weird thing to say. ]

I feel a lot better just knowing Stiles isn't stuffed full of evil blood. [ PARAPHRASING A LOT OF SHIT, but basically. He shrugs off his leather jacket and rolls up a sleeve, displaying constellations penned out accurately from his wrist to his elbow. ] Stars turned out to be my essence-thing, I'm currently living in a make-shift planetarium after people doodled me better.

Talking something, Merlin knows what it really was... or if it's coming back.

But it was true, you're right. I feel a lot less like death, which is a lovely turn around from this time last week.

His blood is evil?

[ Ignore that the device is set in the top of the cart as he reaches up to get a box of cereal. Look at dem werewolf abs! But, he's still listening. ] Stiles had three. But, one was playing lacrosse so, [ Fair trade, really. He brings the box back down. ] People drew on you?

A lot less is better. [ He pauses, checking out the aisle in front of him. ] Hey, have you tried any of these mayonnaise brands?

You're not getting the long version, but yeah. Since he said it was regenerative, it's not the miracle cure he makes it out to be. I don't mind correcting him on that.

[ Except it sort of is, but shh. Kids shouldn't know about that, especially ones from different realities-come-timelines — nice body, stop staring. His attention flickers up as he focuses again. ]

They drew on me, painted my ceiling, all sorts of stuff to get me out of that sickbed and I've got no idea how it worked. What else did you have to do to make Stiles better?
