My people have been given the run of the City Labs via my authority, Captain James Kirk of the USS Enterprise, at the discretion of the anonymous faction that rid the City of its former captors.
That means anyone who wants to get some actual work done can report here to sign up for the Starfleet Program. Physicists, engineers, sciences, medicine if you're interested in expanding your field — all the sections are going to be geared toward improving our technology and getting us out of here. I've had a look around and for twenty-first century restrictions, it's not too bad. Let me know who you are and what you specialize in, so I can keep track of who's going to be coming and going from the facility. You don't have to be a member of Starfleet to sign up for a job, but it's not exactly light work and if you're not a fan of doing things the hard way, I wouldn't bother. We might have to try building our own equipment from scratch, for that matter.
Oh, and does anyone know where I can get a cheap motorcycle from? Thanks. Also, Stiles, I've got some free time if you do.
[PRIVATE TO ENSIGN CHEKOV ; separate starfleet comm frequency]
Hey, I'd like to meet up with you when you're free. I need to go over a couple of things with you about the City, I'd rather do it in person.
( a c t i o n )
[ Get some new bros, dude. ]
Yeah. Now don't actually chop me, but that's where you would. Next you make sure you've got a firm grip on my wrist and drag my neck down and forward. I'll roll with it to show you how the other person would go down if you did it right.
Ready on three?
( a c t i o n )
[ That is literally nervous laughter. Stiles hangs out with werewolves and generally people who shove his face into things. And then on top of that - PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MURDER HIM. ]
Okay. [ So, reaffirming his grip and this is still kind of weird but now he remembers the people trying to kill him he's actually much more in the game. ]
( a c t i o n )
[ He follows the guidance of Stiles' hands, wherever they push him, and aims to tuck into a crouch. ]
( a c t i o n )
Like a puppy. ] Awesome.
( a c t i o n )
It was, well done. That was a good first try, now let's do it again and put a little force into it; I'll be fine.
( a c t i o n )
[ He's a lover, not a fighter. ] So being here must be weird for you, right? 'Cause to you we must be like ... ancient or something.
( a c t i o n )
[ There's a lot of dusting himself off as he lets Stiles heave his considerable weight around, stock-heavy but fluid after years of combat training. ]
( a c t i o n )
[ Dutifully repeating the actions - it's like having an older brother. Which is weird. But stupidly nice anyway. ] I mean if you need someone to feed you guys I've been taking care of my dad's diet for years. I'm not five star but I can make a mean lasagna.
( a c t i o n )
Want to try a different technique?
( a c t i o n )
I can do that. [ But first: BADASSERY CLASS. ] Sure.
( a c t i o n )
[ He positions one of those lanky teenage arms around his middle and the other around his caught bicep, looking down at him. ]
You've got to get in close for this. Side-step around me and pull me slowly to rest on your back. Don't worry about my weight, you've got all of you supporting it.
( a c t i o n )
If I die at least I go out awesomely. [ So. DOING THAT. ]
( a c t i o n )
Alright, use your upper body strength and the twist of your hips to shove me onto the grass.
( a c t i o n )
This is a hundred percent cooler when people other than me don't do it.
( a c t i o n )
[ He swings his legs around and rolls himself off Stiles's back to land on the grass with a muffled Oof! Wrinkling his nose, he swivels up onto his side. ]
See? Easy.
( a c t i o n )
This is still stupidly cool though. [ HE FEELS LIKE A BADASS. ]
( a c t i o n )
[ He can take a few bruises, it's for a good cause. ]
( a c t i o n )
[ Because he wants to get this right. If Peter or Gerard end up in the City then he's going to need to know this shit. ] If that's cool?
( a c t i o n )
[ And you can bet a solid half-hour passes with Jim instructing Stiles how to dodge, flip and toss him to the ground, steadily getting faster in their movements. ]
( a c t i o n )
That was so cool.
( a c t i o n )
You did really well. [ Patting him on the shoulder. ] You want to grab a drink? Not an alcoholic one.
( a c t i o n )
[ He hums and offers Jim a smile. ] That's totally okay. They're cracking down on that anyway. Got my fake I.D. confiscated last month.
( a c t i o n )
[ Naughty, Stiles, time to hit a cafe. ]
( a c t i o n )
( a c t i o n )
[ Frowning as they pace the gardens together, he nods to the Dewi Shri up ahead. Might as well get the kid something to eat after wearing him out. ]
