Captain Kirk? Uhura and I have the communicators working. They can pick up local transmissions, and we have connected all four to a secure channel. I think that is the best that can be done.

We had a small revolution, and then there was a post-revolution party. Nothing important.

[It's a shame that the streets are too crowded to make taking the Impala out feasible. Chekov can just imagine pulling up to the flower shop in a twentieth century car...

Running it is.

He tries not to look too pleased to see his fellow helmsman, with questionable success. Having the captain and the doctor here is all well and good, and Nyota is a wonderful friend, but he missed Hikaru. There's no pressure to be impressive or mature or insanely competent around him.]

Hikaru! Have you seen Nyota? Or Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy?

It is, yes, but I would still recommend that you avoid dying.

[ They've always gotten along, him and Pavel. He supposes that it has much to do with the fact that it's usually the two of them at the console during the course of the most important events happening to their crew, and when it's down time, it's usually the two of them together as well. Being at another place with the captain and the commander is fine, despite the tension all around them, but it's nothing like seeing a friend. When received the invitation to leave for a few days and journey to another place, he thought why not. Nothing like a new adventure.

And he's glad he's done that, now. ]

Hey! [ He tries not to laugh at Pavel's breathless excitement, though can't quite keep his own grin at bay. ] And no, I haven't, I just arrived, and you're the first one I saw.

[ But wait, didn't he just leave Kirk a while ago back at the other place? ] Captain Kirk is here?

Good! Everything becomes more complicated when all of us are together; we're all from different times and no one wants to say too much for fear of giving the future away. That would be fine if I wasn't the farthest behind and worried that I'm not being told something terrible.

[Pavel doesn't sound too concerned about the situation. After living here for well over a year, silly things like not being told about a future that others have already experienced drop in importance.]

Yes, he is. With the doctor, probably. Where should he be?

[ On the one hand it's an endearing sight seeing him in his uniform when it's obviously a bit too snug, and on the other Jim feels awful for having left him here. Not that Chekov was technically missing or anything, but ... well, still. ]

Mr. Sulu! [ Sobs, can't resist his bridge crew. ] Please listen to everything Mr. Chekov says, he's our resident expert on all of ... well, all of this.

[ Hikaru almost winces, because it's true to a fault, and if Hikaru can guess, he'll say that it's probably close enough to the same thing that he last remembers. From his own vantage point, he understands the reason why others have not told Pavel anything. ]

If the Captain thinks it's for the best, then it's probably for the best. [ Hikaru is somewhat bitter about that, for various, petty reasons, and a lot more sad than he even knows, but he doesn't show it. No need to worry Pavel about something like that. ]

I — well, this is going to sound weirder than it already is, but I'm also currently at another place? With Captain Kirk and Commander Spock. I got an invitation to check out this place, and so I did.

—! [ He's been warned by Chekov earlier, but it still doesn't prepare him for the real deal. So he blinks a lot for a bit. ]

He's not saying anything on Pavel's post, though, or at all. ] — It's very good to see you, Captain.

[ His smile is small but genuine. Poor Pavel, this whole conversation is so cryptic. ]

Believe me, it's very good to be seen.

[UGH. You people are the worst!]

Does something terrible happen? [Pavel narrows his eyes at Hikaru, deeply suspicious.] You can tell me without creating a temporal paradox. All memories are lost in the transition from this dimension to others, I wouldn't remember.

[Captainly praise is a thing that has most definitely been missed. But there are more important things afoot!]

[ So, this one knows. That makes him relax a little, because the one he's stuck with has no idea. Positively cheerful, alive, oblivious - it should be a sight that makes him happy, but it only makes it a little painful. ]

Yeah. [ He swallows, hands playing with his the edges of his sleeves in an almost unconscious manner. ] You — Another 'you' is in another place with me, Captain, along with Commander Spock.

[That's basically high praise from the CMO. He'll take it.]

Eh... nominal progress, sir. I will do what I can.

[fencing]

It's just another bad guy trying to destroy Earth. [ He says it so flippantly, but there's an obvious hint of worry. That much is true, but he's not going to give details, and he hopes that Pavel understands. It's not really that he doesn't want to. It's that he doesn't want to worry the guy.

And he's not ready to talk about it, not exactly. ] We ran into some problems. Imagine that's what they all remember.

And, well, sort of. [ A beat. ] We were contacted by a man who calls himself an 'Admiral'. He — basically runs a ship that carries people from different worlds and dimensions who are there because they made a wish, and he promised to fulfill them if they work for him for a while. We've investigated and found that he's actually had some exemplary results, so I hopped in.

Really. [ He reads Sulu's hesitation, nodding shortly. ] If I were you, Sulu, I'd put any points across without sugar-coating anything for as long as you serve under those men, especially in these conditions. That would be appreciated in the long run.
