If you're going to slit throats with it, clean it up when you're done.

[ She can go ahead and pull it out of his boot, if she'd like. He won't stop her. ]

[That makes her smile, and she does draw the blade out, watching the sun flash on the handle before she flicks it open. She holds it loosely, but she's pretty sure she could keep a grip on it long enough to slash somebody's throat, sure.]

You have no idea what you're doing.

[An airy comment, but she also doesn't reach back to stop him.]

[ Her hair is gathered in his hands, and that's about as far as he's currently gotten. ]

[Which means she was just enjoying the touch. It's a little bit too bad this is what they woke up to after the 14th. It could have been a nice morning.]

Whichever wrist you put the band around, take it all in that hand.

[ Well, it was a nice night. Still, he has to agree -- there are better ways to wake up. ]

[ He lets her hair back down, since he's lost several strands anyway, and then gathers it back up. ]

Stretch the band out with your other hand so you can pull the hair through.

[She runs her thumb along the edge of his razor, although she doesn't doubt he keeps it sharp.]

Make a twist in the band, and switch hands. Rinse and repeat until tight.

[ There's a quiet 'mm' of acknowledgement as he focuses, stretching the band and pulling her hair through, then twisting, switching, and repeating. ]

That tight enough?

[She shuts the razor before setting it on her leg, reaching back to give her new ponytail a little tug, setting the band tight.]

I'll teach you how to braid next time.

[She's probably teasing.]

[ Teasing or not, he chuckles, toothpick rolling to the other side of his mouth. ]

[The knife goes into her back pocket and she turns to face him half-way.]
