[Yeeeeah. Korra hadn't expected to be out all night (and well into the morning). Explaining this to Jinora and Lin is....not going to be fun.

She stops and stares when she sees a man in Lin's armor.]

HEY! WHO ARE -- [Wait, Hei was a girl this morning....] Chief?

[ Lin nods humorlessly, crossing her arms over a strangely flat chest. Her armor doesn't fit properly at all, which is more than frustrating, but neither do her clothes, so she really doesn't have much to go with here. She's certainly not going to buy a new wardrobe for one of the City's temporary foibles. ]

I see you've found your way home.

[ Does she sound more or less judgmental with a deeper voice? Hard to tell. ]

[anatural]

[You know, Korra was just about to compliment you about looking good as a dude. But Lin's tone makes the teenager flush uncomfortably.]

I had to help a friend. [Which is true! For a certain definition of "helping."

Besides, Korra's an adult. The Chief has no right to get all judgey on her!]

I see. [ Lin looks away. She doesn't feel handsome as a man, okay. She just feels awkward. ] I don't suppose you have any clothing around here that might fit me.

[anatural]

Do I look like I'm anywhere near your size?

[Still, she looks Lin over and thinks.]

You might fit into one of Bolin's old shirts. I've got his clothes boxed up on the top floor.

[For once, mentioning her long-missing friend hardly brings a twinge of pain.]

He was here? [ She shakes her head. She doesn't know why she's surprised. ] Thanks. Has to be better than this.

[ She looks decidedly uncomfortable. ]

[anatural]

Yeah. He, Mako, and Asami were all here. [Of course, in the process of moving Asami's buckets of stuff, it was probably hard to tell that Bolin and Mako had even left anything.]

I'll be right back. [She takes the steps two at a time.....and then one at a time, because she left her sarashi with Hei and her boobs give a tell-tale smack when she moves too quickly.]

[lawbender]

I'd still like to know where you were! [ Called up the stairs. ]

[anatural]

I told you - helping a friend! [shouted back down, hoping that answer will be sufficient and the Chief will forget the whole issue by the time she gets back down.

Before heading to where she stored Bolin's clothes, Korra pops into her room to pull on a bra. A few minutes later, she heads back down the stairs, carrying box.]

Here, you can try these on.

[lawbender]

[ Lin's looks are no less piercing now. But she doesn't say anything in response to Korra's excuse, just takes the box. ] Thank you.

[ She'll come back in a few minutes. Bolin's clothes are a strange fit - she's taller and leaner as a man - but it's much better than before, at least. ]

[anatural]

Looking good, Chief.

[lawbender]

Thank you.

[ A pause. ] Has this occurred to you before?

[ Translation: being a dude is weird. ]

[anatural]

Nope. What's it like?

[lawbender]

Both more and less different than I expected.

I may have to go out to train later, just to see how it feels.

[anatural]

Sounds like fun. Want some help?

[lawbender]

I would, actually. [ She smiles a little. ]

[anatural]

Great! Let me change and I'll meet you outside.

[Shikieiki is similarly afflicted. She has the same asymmetric green hair and bright blue eyes, but her face is lean and strong-looking, and she's definitely three or four inches taller...and male. The skirt is gone, replaced by a set of long black pants that Penny dug up for her from the Welcome Center's stash. The whole outfit sits a little weirdly, because her shirt is supposed to be fitted to a woman's body, so it's loose on her chest and tight around her waist.

She raises a hand to wave down Lin.]

Chief Bei Fong?

[She has to think a little to make sure she's right. She never forgets a face, but this is a little more different than faces usually look on a routine basis.]

[ Lin is glad, at least, that she's been recognized. That hasn't happened very often today. She squints at the stranger, trying to think of who it might be under that bright hair. Oh, yes. Shikieiki. ]
