This whole not having her brother and her kid around thing? It's not working for her at the moment.]

The house is too quiet.

[And it wasn't that Ken and Arthur made a lot of noise. It was more an awareness that she spoke of, a sense that they were in the house and there. And safe. The last time Ken vanished, he came back in the middle of being kidnapped. That had been quite upsetting to Charlie and she was worried about what he'd gone home to.]

[Charlie settles against him, setting the Unnamed Feline on the floor. The other animals are playing nearby, Affinity trying to take over the cat tower whine Phantom, Petrichor and Sonic chase each other on the floor. This usually makes Charlie laugh but today, she just watches.

Her hand finds Merlins and her fingers lace through his. This is fine. She doesn't have to say anything, does she?]

[ It's perfectly fine. He doesn't feel like saying much either, and he watches in silence too as he squeezes Charlie's hand. Even with all these animals it's all so wrong. It's just the two of them and it's simply not right.

But there's nothing they can do about it either. He can only kiss her hair and let her lean on him and maybe lean a bit on her in return because, well... They are in this together. ]

[Charlie rolls over carefully, now facing her husband. Thank God for him, otherwise she'd be in a panic. Right now, she feels almost calm. Almost. She wants her people back. Her idiot brother and her fantastic kid. There's a gap in her life without them.

But her husbands presence helps keep her mind off of that, as always. Her lips press against his for just a second, a silent thank you for him still being here, before she curls herself against him.]
