[This isn't happening. This isn't happening. This isn't happening.

Korra is running down the streets, not paying attention to where she's going. It doesn't matter. Her airbending is gone. The last thing she had, her only connection left to the person she had always been. It was taken from her and she didn't even have a chance to fight for it.

So she does the only thing she can do: she runs. She pushes herself as hard as she can, until her muscles burn and she can hardly breathe. Good luck to anyone that gets in her way.]

[ Incoming Korra. Headed right his way. ]

[Korra's been pretty good about dodging people, but the more she runs, the harder it is to concentrate on anything except the rhythm of her breath and the pain in her shins. Which was her goal in the first place, but it means that unless Li moves pretty quickly, she's going to barrel right into him.]

[ He could lunge out of her way easily. He's honed for combat and quickness. But Korra's too close. Split-second evasions would be suspicious. He's in 'Li's' persona. He ought to live upto it. ]

[ Even if it would be better not to. ]

[ Expect to mow a derp down, Korra. ]

[At the very last second, Korra finally notices him. She manages to slow down and swerve enough to avoid a full-on collision, so only their shoulders knock together, but it's enough to upset her balance. She stumbles to the ground, and then just stays there, too tired to keep on moving.]

[ The bump is enough to make 'Li' stagger backward. But he maintains his footing. ]

Ah! S-Sorry!

[ Whyyyyyyyy isn't she moving? Tentatively, he steps closer. ]

Um, is everything all right?

[As if her day wasn't horrible enough, why does it have to be him?!]

Yeah. Everything's fine.

[She's not being sarcastic, but her tone is angry enough to give away the lie.]

Are you sure?

[ He keeps his tone mild. Takes another cautious step toward her. ]

You seem - upset.

I'm sure. [She crosses her arms defensively.] What are you doing out here, anyway?

[ Defensive Avatar is defensive. He smiles at her benignly. ]

Taking a walk. [ Scouting the area around his apartment for odd activity. ] ...Are you sure nothing's wrong? [ Quieter, ] Bolin told me you'd been attacked by, um, some creepy guy in a mask.

[Now that distracts Korra from her woes.]

Do you know anything about him?

No, ma'am. [ Oh so innocent. ] But he sounds dangerous. [ Seguing casually into an interrogation. To ensure Korra doesn't remember more than necessary. ] Do you remember anything about him? That way, I can warn people. Keep an eye out.

He had a really stupid mask on, and some kind of gas.

[She shudders a little.]

And electricity.

[ Good. She recalls no finer details. Now to throw her in the wrong trail. ]

Bolin told me about the electricity. He said it may be someone from your world. [ Round-eyed. ] You don't think that's true, do you?

No. [She shakes her head.] I thought about it, but it doesn't make sense. Whoever this guy was, he was running from something.

Looking at you, someone would think you were running from something too. [ A gentle smile. ] Maybe it's like Bolin said? He's someone insane. Who knows what insane people like to do?

Maybe. [She doesn't sound like she's buying it.]

[ He'll persist. But in future conversations. Right now he wants her mind off the topic. ]

Are you really okay? You were running pretty hard.

That? That was nothing. [Don't let the faint sheen of sweat fool you.] Just keeping in shape.

I'm impressed. Not sure I'd last five minutes racing with you.

[ Because he'd lose on purpose ;; ]

[Jerk. She'd kill him if she found out he was taking it easy on her.]

You should try running. You've got a pretty good build for it.

[ ...blushblushblush... ] You think so? [ Ducking his head. ] I guess I'm more worried about the clumsiness.

Balance training can help with that.

It's training. That improves your balance and coordination.
