[Luckily, Dawn had been walking into a Starbucks back home when she suddenly appeared in the City. It was almost a seamless transition for her this time. She'd opened the door to Starbucks in San Fransisco and walked right into Cafe Juliet here in the City. It was so seamless, in fact, that she'd been standing in line for five minutes and even ordered a latte before she noticed that this was not Starbucks.

A minor freak out, several questions of the other patrons of the coffee shop, and another less than minor freak out later, Dawn is starting to get the gist of what is going on here. Someone was even nice enough to hand her the device by the door and explain about that as well.

With her brain still fried on new information and adapting to the idea of it all, she flips on the video looking very much stressed out and anxious.]

Buffy? They said you were here so... you better be here. I mean if you aren't here I guess I could handle it cause there's still coffee and nice strangers who answer all the questions and you've been absent before but I'd really rather you were here cause there's that whole security blanket thing and... [Deep breath in, quick exhale that might indicate another impending freak out.] ...us.



ooc: Dawn is back from her canon update and City memory wiped! And after speaking with Buffy!mun, we decided to canon update her to one of the most recent comics for the fun pretendy times dramaz. So she's coming from comic 9x5 'Slayer Interrupted'.

If by something you mean being pulled into another dimension from home and everyone here seeming to know my name, then yes something's going on. If by something you mean I'm being cool as a cucumber about being pulled into another dimension and everyone knowing my name, then no nothing's going on.

My sister is here. And I recognize her because... sister. But that's it. Are we friends? Are we BFF's? Are we arch enemies? No wait, you're being too nice for that. Okay strike that last one.

We're definitely not enemies. I mean, we were friends, but you don't remember, so...That has to feel weird.

Every kind of weird. Like Twilight Zone where I was awesome and had all these friends kind of weird. What's your name?

[And Rita doesn't understand half the things Dawn say as usual, so she'll just focus on the question!]

Rita, coworkers and friends. You know, I might like it here even if most of the scoobies aren't here. I mean I'm way more popular here than I was back home. How many apocalypses a month would you say happen here?

Huh? Well, there's curses all the time...Apocalyptic ones probably come up every couple of months.

...And what is a scooby supposed to be?

I thought maybe since we worked together you might be one. It's just what we call the group of people who help my sister fight the forces of bad back home. Stolen from this cartoon called Scooby-Doo. But if we aren't scoobies, what do we do?

Well, if you put it that way...We don't exactly fight evil or anything here, unless there's an invasion or something...

Anyway, we work at City Solutions. It's technology development, software--things like that.

Oh. That sounds really boring. I mean in an exciting, ooo innovation kind of way. I do research-y kind of stuff, right? That's... pretty much all I'm good at.

Well, probably. But how can something be boring and exciting at the same time? Either it's lame or it isn't.

In the way that what's boring to me can be exciting to others and vice versa? Also in the way that when you're friends with someone you try to take interest in whatever they're into. Like I don't know how many times I've sat through Xander talking about how to build this or that. Boring, but he's into that whole construction thing so I'm vicariously interested. Oh! And you can be both in the way that you like the outcome of whatever the boring work is but not the boring work itself. Like eReaders. I don't care how they're manufactured but I'm always excited when a new model comes out for the masses to buy!

No, I mean...So--okay, so you're saying you're interested in what other people do. And results.

Yep! Well that's one thing I'm saying, yeah. I think there were two main points mixed in there somewhere but I never expect anyone to listen to everything I'm saying cause it'd be more like a chore than an enjoyable conversation.

I think you seriously talk more than any person I've heard in my life.

I think most anyone could say that about me. Although I did know this one Slayer-ette back home when we were all castle living that could give me a run for my money. I mean she made my rambles seem small and insignificant. Which was cool, I guess. I mean I liked having conversations with her. Sometimes we'd be talking about five different things at the same time and no one else could keep up. Words, I like them. That's probably why I like reading so much too, cause it's fun to see how other people put words together.

I don't know how anyone could focus dividing their attention like that.

Stick with me, Rita. I'll teach you. You know if you and I keep talking some here and there you'll adapt to understanding all of what I'm saying even when I randomly switch topics mid conversation. People always adapt. It's a thing.

You don't expect me to start talking like that, do you?

I don't expect you to do anything, no. But you might get better at interpreting Dawn-speak over time. I think most people eventually handle me better over time rather than the whole initial meeting me thing. I know I'm annoying to begin with, a lot to handle with all the spazzing and the words.

I sure hope so...I mean--I don't think you're--I just think a lot of stuff you mention makes no sense.

Lucky for you, I don't mind getting all explain-y. One of our kind of friends from back home for awhile was an ex-demon so we had to do a lot of explaining things for her too.
