You know, it occurs to me that between curses, the City doesn't have a huge variety of ways to keep yourself occupied. Sure, there are things to go out and see, ways to entertain oneself... what I haven't seen a lot of are ways to develop skills, or discuss shared interests with others - in person, that is.

It also occurs me to that it's been a long time since I got to do my actual job, and that my actual job might be helpful filling that gap.

So, if anyone's interested, I think I may offer a poetry class in the City. Reading and discussing philosophy and interpretation, helping each other write our own - it would be very loose and laid-back, more a gathering of like minds than anything. I just thought it might be a nice change of pace for anyone who's inclined towards it. So... if you think you might be interested, let me know.

[He laughs at that.] Well, it's more the teacher part that's the job. It does help that I'm not restricted to an administration's curriculum here, though.

I think I can find it in my heart. I'm not trying to force it on anyone, though - it's purely optional. May not be great for attendance numbers, but at least anyone who comes will be there because they want to be.

I think that depends on how many - if any - people are interested.

The library, maybe. One of the common areas.

Almost... five years? Well, before I wound up here, anyway.

Honestly... I don't want to charge for it. I feel like it would undermine the spirit of what I'd like it to be.

I would be interested in such a class. There is little else to pass the time here, and I might as well learn some.

Are you a teacher in your world?

I am. There hasn't been a lot of demand for the profession here, so I've been working in the library, but... I see no reason why I shouldn't at least ask if anyone's interested.

Do you like poetry, then?

Oh. There isn't a school here? Maybe not enough school-age individuals?

Not so much poetry, but I like discussion, and I used to enjoy learning anything for the sake of it. This would also be a good way to pass the time and meet new people here, I believe. Also, learn more about other worlds through their literature.

Well, there is, actually, though it's not... terribly well-attended, by any account. I think I rather like the idea of a more freeform intellectual gathering for the sake of shared interest, though.

I can't argue with any of that. And on top of learning about other worlds, I don't doubt that we'll find some common ground between them, too.

Your reasons for that? Preferring freeform? If I might ask, that is. Personally, I think it appeals better since trying to maintain a schedule for regular schooling would be difficult in this place. I didn't know there was a school, though.

That is possible. Common ground might help communication, amongst other things.

[It's always hard to tell, with a curse like this, just how much her friends remember about their lives in the City--and more importantly, just how well they take to the oddities of it when they're quite clearly rather not themselves.

So today she's cautious, and doesn't speak, but instead just whistles a cheerful hello to see what Todd will do.]

[Fortunately, Todd's memories are largely intact - if a bit different than others might remember them being, since he was a rather different version of himself for them. Still, he certainly remembers Rosella and her tendency to turn into a bird.]

Hello. And how are you today? Aside from being a bird again, that is - though it has been a while since you've had this one, hasn't it?

It has! I was doing so well for a while, but now it seems I'm to have wings again. And I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't so very cold out; I don't think I'm a winter sort of bird at all.
