[One of the perks of being dead? Not being bothered by temperature changes. The sudden change in the weather would normally have bothered the polar bear dog, but without any internal heat to be trapped by her fur, Naga finds the change unremarkable.

Korra, of course, is another story entirely. For now, the warmth is pleasant, but once it starts getting hot, she's going to be living in the ocean. She's from the South Pole, okay? It's cold there!

Anyone who decides to head over to the beach to cool off may find them lounging in the water like the arctic creatures they are.]

[Laruna's out wading in the ocean. She's staring up at the sky watching the birds and not really watching where she's going, which is why she almost trips on Korra.]

Hey! Watch it!

[Honestly, Korra should have been paying attention too, but details. She's the one stumbling backwards; she's the one who gets to complain.]

[They both stumble backwards, so do they both get to complain?]

[And then she notices Naga...]

[ cold really does not agree with b'elanna's particular physiology -- she's been wearing ugly sweaters and more layers than allows her to move comfortably since her arrival in the city.

so when the warmth rolls in, b'elanna takes her first day off from the labs to don a bikini and do absolutely nothing for an entire day but enjoy the sun and the soothing splash of the water (though she never goes in).

when she spots korra, b'elanna smiles wide and waves, raising her voice so that it carries over the water to the girl and her ... curiously large pet. ]

It's amazing how quick the season change came, but you're not going to find me complaining!

[Korra perks up when she hears B'Ellanna call out. After that weird wizard curse had ended, Korra'd been a little embarrassed by how much she had fangirled this woman who was actually a complete stranger. But it turned out that the older woman was actually pretty cool. Grinning, she waves and makes her way back to the shore.]

Don't get used to it. Same thing happened last year, and it only lasted a few days.

[Warm weather means going to the beach to bother Korra and complain about the interruption of a perfectly nice winter! (Of course, continued cold also means going to the beach eventually, so.) Chekov is running around in swim trunks and toting his shirt when wades into the ocean to pester Avatar and Naga alike.]

Are you not enjoying the weather?

This one doesn't care. [Korra kicks some water teasingly at Naga. It's nice, being able to reference (however obliquely) Naga's death and not feel sick with grief & guilt.] But I'm still an arctic animal. I was totally happy with winter.

As was I. At least this will pass soon.

[After pausing just long enough to ask himself whether or not it would be stupid to start a water fight with the Avatar, he splashes Korra.]

[Korra's getting better -- she instinctively redirects the water with airbending, not waterbending. And there is a devilish glint in her eye.]

Do you really want to start something?

[It's as though she's giving him an out...but it's already too late.]

I already have.

[SPLASH. She might be the Avatar, but he's Russian. Russians practically invented splash fights.]

[Says the guy who COULDN'T SWIM.

Korra dodges his splash easily enough, and quickly calls up a small tornado. It funnels water up into a rapidly spinning spiral.

Get ready, Chekov. Get ready.]

[COULDN'T, past tense, thank you! He's perfectly decent at not drowning now!

Oh, he's ready. His readiness takes the form of swimming the hell away as fast as possible. Chekov's convinced that, if nothing else, he can always use speed to his advantage whenever he starts something with Korra.]

[The weather's pleasant, a nice break from the wintery temperatures they'd had only the day before, which means, of course, that it's time to go to the beach. It also means it's time for Ginsberg to roll up the legs of his atrocious corduroy pants and go out wading. Which is exactly where he nearly runs into Korra, because she's lounging in the water and he's wandering around in it not really paying attention -- and is naturally clumsy. He manages to avoid tripping over her or splashing her, but only just.]

Sorry! I should've been watching where I was going. I was just...

[That's when he notices Naga, and just kind of stares.]

Wow.

[anatural]

[Korra should have noticed him too, but she'd been too busy dozing lightly. When he first says "wow", she thinks he's talking about her body, and if she'd had hackles, they would've raised defensively.

Wow about Naga is another story entirely. She relaxes and grins.]

Never seen a polar bear dog before, huh?

[He grins right back, hands shoved deeply in his pockets, shaking his head.]

No, we don't. Well, I should say we don't have them that I know of. It's possible, of course. Anything's possible. But I've never seen one, anyway.

Pretty sure they're only native to my world. But Naga's a real big hit downtown.

[You know, with her movie star good looks. Which Michael's getting an extra good view of because Naga has decided to sniff him all over.]

[He's juuuuust a little nervous because, well, Naga's pretty big, and he's not great with large animals, but hey, she's cute anyway.]

Well, she's... Or is she a he? I guess I shouldn't assume... She or he's really pretty, anyway. Not, uh, dangerous, right?

[No, Naga doesn't eat people. There's a moment of deja vu that stings. That had been the first thing she and Hei fought about, back when he was pretending to be Li.

The sting soon fades, and she grins at him.]

Only if you piss her off.

I'm not going to piss her off.

[The response comes quickly, because there's no way in hell he's going to piss something off that's as big and potentially dangerous as Naga. At least, not intentionally.]

I mean, I'll try not to piss her off. If I do, well, I guess I'm just going to have to be the guy that got eaten by a polar bear dog. That'd be an interesting way to go, that's for sure.

[Nall is out and about to enjoy the random heat near the water. He might actually take a dip or something. Which is why he's about in human form because he has a very cat-like reaction to water when he's in his kit form.

His lair is in an ice cave. He prefers the cold and the water is looking niiiiice.

He grins when he sees them. He sounds like a teenage guy now instead of the little girl his kit form sounds like.]

Not too fond of the heat either, huh?

[Korra grins back at him. It's kind of weird, this stranger talking to her almost like they know each other, but Bolin had been that same way when they first met.]
