[ The feed starts to play with blurs of colour, the image shaky and the audio muffled sounds of movement and scrabbling with the faintest clip-clop of tiny feet on hardwood flooring and energetic whimpering.

But it stops when there's a heavy thud as the device clearly falls from a slight distance, the screen turning black momentarily from the impact, and then settling on the ceiling above, catching sight of a bouncy husky puppy attempting to clamber up onto a couch with a jacket hanging over the edge where it's pulled it down visible at the edge of the screen.

There's the sound of human footfalls carrying closer, and a soft, amused chuckle as a Clint-shaped shadow casts over the view. ]

You've barely been here an hour and already you're trashing the place. Can't get up? [ He sounds more fond than put out, and he crouches down to push the panting puppy up from below, allowing the pretence that it managed it itself. ] Don't worry, Tasha'll probably think it's me. Taking one for the team, right?

[ Foot kicking the device as he straightens up, Clint scoops up the device and groans when he realises it's recording. ]

So much for being discrete.

[If it weren't for the fact that he picked up the device toward the end, there was more than a moment there she almost though he was the puppy.]

Cute's about the only thing that'll keep him out of trouble.

[ He would pretend to look sorry, but they both know it'd be a lie. Besides, the smirk he's trying to suppress and the general guise of innocence he's got going on would definitely take away from it. ]

Funny story. It may or may not end with me bringing home a stray.

[ He grins, one of the rare ones reserved for private moments few get to see, like he's thought this through. ]

You're forgetting one factor. If Fury's got an energetic puppy trying to chew on his tail, he's not gonna notice what we're doing. [ Okay, but now he does look apologetic. ] And I owe you a pair of shoes. Please don't kill me?

[Stop that, because seriously that sort of sounds like he has other intentions. Like... he has thought this through and he's trying to keep Fury occupied so he won't notice that They're occupied with each other.

[ He keeps up he air of innocence, which no one is buying, and if any implications should come into question, well, he's going to deny everything. ]

[She's not buying it, but of course he would, they deal in lies. She really just hopes he's better at it when he's on a job, than he is here.]

[She's going to be there soon... just you wait. And to think, she bought you donuts- this is how you repay her?]

[ He can be professional, but being in the City's allowed him to get comfortable, questionably too comfortable, and he's dropped his guard somewhat. But this is Natasha, and if it were anyone else, he wouldn't be quite so relaxed. ]

[She's the same, if it weren't him it would be different, but this place has them much too at ease. It's comfortable, and she likes it, but at the same time... there are times it's disconcerting.]

Does he have a name? [Because if not she might take to calling it dʹyavol (which is Russian for Devil)] If it takes to eating my shoes, I'm not so sure I will. [She will, it's inevitable.] Good, because it would be a pain in the ass to dispose of your body, since you know.. I won't be able to count on you to help me do it.

[ Secret spies slash assassins should never truly feel at home anywhere, but if this place wasn't more or less safe, neither of them would have let it happen. ]

Well, I was thinking you should name him. [ He might call it something ridiculous otherwise, and technically Fury is his dog even if he didn't name him, so it's only fair. Right? ] Good call. Think I've put on a couple of pounds recently, wouldn't want you to pull something.

Still got good deduction skills. You passed. [ He smiles, playful, clearly teasing. ] The little guy needed a home, and I figured something fluffy might go well with Natasha's wardrobe.

Shoes count, right? 'Cause I'm gonna be paying for that one later.

I see. [She sees exactly what you're doing there.] Clearly, I'm spoiling you [Somehow.] I'm just going to have to get you up earlier and ride you a little harder. [A pause while she considers.] About working out.... [But he knew that, right?]

[Ugh.. she'll be coming through the door soon, you better check around again to be sure everything is order.]

Sorry to break this to you, Tash, but I'm not a horse. [ Deflecting isn't a no, though, so she should take note of his lack of objection at the idea. ] A good workout on the other hand? That I could benefit from.

[ He's got the puppy to settle on the sofa, jacket no longer draped everywhere with the contents of his pockets all over the floor, so that gives him the chance to double check. ]

[Yeah... that really sounded better in her head. And yet, she doesn't stumble much worse than that.]

Thank god for that. [She certainly does note it, and files it away for later consideration.] Then we'll have to start doing it more regularly.

[Good boy. Key in the door, and walking in probably about four minutes later.]

So, that's a "dog," is it? How fascinating!

[That's all genuine, because what are ordinary animals, anyway?]

A doggy! Pinoko loves doggies. They're sho cute... and a little puppy dog's even cuter!

[ If he was a horse, however, he likes to think he'd be a stallion. ]

And by doing it you mean sparring and by sparring I mean letting you beat me up. [ And by letting her he means that she can always kick his ass.

He's sitting on the floor, now, legs sprawled out at awkward angles, leaning to one side as soon as he hears the key turning in the lock, peering over. ]

[ He's got one of those looks where someone is clearly amused and trying not to make it seem as if they're being mocking beyond friendly teasing. ]

What else would it be?

[ Right now, Clint's struggling to decide which is cuter: the dog or the young lady. ]

Can't argue with that. Bet this little guy would love a couple of a new friends if you wanna fuss over him sometime.

We don't have such creatures in my world... the closest thing would be a Yorterry or maybe a Pochiena.

It looks very endearing.

[His own companion, a strange balloon-chandelier cross with a stitched smile and round yellow eyes, floats in to peer at the screen, also interested in seeing the unfamiliar creature that has.]
