Indeed. Girls give handmade chocolates to all the significant men in their lives on Valentine's Day and expect return gifts from them on White Day, exactly one month later. Typically white things: white chocolate, marshmallows, clothes...

It was some store's marketing gimmick in the first place, so it had to be on another day... it simply became more popular than expected and wound up a cultural practice.

At this point, I suppose the gap allows the boys who've only just been confessed to by way of Valentine's Day chocolates some time to decide whether or not they return the girl's feelings.

Others still have decided to spend the day drinking because nobody's given them chocolates on the previous holiday.

I do not celebrate either holiday at all. The only person I talk to outside of work is my twin brother, Kudari. He acquires more than enough sweets on his own. As for obligation chocolate from coworkers, I do not receive those either, because all the depot agents are men.

As a result of working in transportation, I normally spend the holidays doing twice as much work.

[As sad as that sounds, he doesn't seem particularly bothered by it.]
