So...hah, am I sure glad we discussed moving to a new place, because between the ghouls and the blizzard, my room would be a downright mess. Mom finally got to ruining all my clothes, I suppose. Only without presenting me with what she considers fit for a lady, but that's City irony for you.

And then what was up with that two-day blizzard? Almost froze my t-tiiiiny toes off. [Yep. Y e p.] My tiny toes.

[A sigh.] So how are the rest of you? Recovering, refurbishing, remodelling, resoluting? Who's had one hell of a beginning of the new year? And who's up for drinking? Nothing like alcohol to drown out the trauma. To healthy life choices!

This was, I think, the absolute worst start to a new year ever.

[ Clary wanders over after checking out the network, takes a space up beside Mae, crossing her legs as she does so. She's grateful to the other girl, of course she is, she put Clary up and then she let Jace join them and even with everything that's been happening they still seem to get on extremely well. ]

We could go out soon if you like, try to pick up some new clothes while we're still searching for a place.

[ She's not actually sure how to. The apartment she'd been in briefly was small and not really fit for them all. But she doesn't want to split. ]

[It's how it usually go. Make a post, then crash on the couch before work starts, to answer to whoever replies. Only this time she has company, and company she's grateful for - company that's kept her sane and alive.

[ Clary's reply is simple though a little baffled. ] I mean as long as you're okay with us still living with you? Because if you aren't we'll look for somewhere else.

[ She doesn't want to, but she will if Mae wants to be alone. ]

I'm waiting for the weekend to go out. Not because it's not necessary now, but because I like to be conscious during work shifts.

Well, then we're not going anywhere. [ She leans slightly, bumps Mae with her shoulder. ]

Jace has lived in the Institute half his life and he seems to be doing just fine, he doesn't mind company. And I know I'd hate to be somewhere else if the company's good, y'know? So we'll find somewhere better together.

[charring]

Good plan.

[brobeforehos]

Oh yes. I am capable of them. By then I might even have things to wear.

[brobeforehos]

[She returns the gesture with a slight smile, glancing at Clary before looking at her toes again.]

Mm. It took me a long time to accept that as fact, but I really just...this short time with you two around has been more fun than I've had on my own. [She leans back against the couch, and looks at Clary fully now.] Besides, if you two moved out, how would we unwind Jace a bit more? I worry about the kid.

[charring]

That is also always a good thing. Hope you find some lovely outfits.

[ She smiles at that, ducking her head a little. ] I've enjoyed it too. It's nice, it feels good, you know? And the curse just showed me that we all need to stick together anyway.

[ Then her grin only widens. ] I think you scare him a little. He's not used to girls not immediately swooning over him.

[brobeforehos]

I know, I've met his type before. Hell, I've swooned for his type before. [Apparently nothing will relax her faster than poking fun at a boy not in the room (for now), so she stretches her legs and props her feet on the coffee table.]

He's good under pressure, though. Snapped me out of it when I needed it, and...the three of us, we don't make a bad team, do we?

[steleheart]

He does that. [ She has a lot of love for Jace, that much shines through constantly. ] He likes to pretend it's just because that's what he's meant to do, but he's always gone above and beyond for as long as I've known him. [ He's saved her, helped Simon, kept fighting just because she needed him. ]

You're right, we don't. And it's made me realise I actually need to train while I'm here. [ The City might have seemed harmless but it could have gone terribly wrong if it hadn't been for Jace and Mae. She needs to learn how to fight. ]

[brobeforehos]

[And he was risking his life for her, too, when Anzu and Liannan dropped by for a visit.] Would you be upset if I gave him a hug? Out of gratitude - I mean. Not a romantical one but a thanks for saving my life one.

[steleheart]

[ It takes her a minute to realise what Mae means by that and then she's quick to shake her head. ] Of course I wouldn't be upset. I'm not -- people can hug him, I'm not about to go into a jealous rage. I don't even do rages all that well.

[ Well, apart from the time that she threw plates at Jace's head. And ... all the other times she's let her temper get the better of her. ]

[That's what everyone says, but envy is an uncontrollable thing, and she doesn't want to mess anything up between her and her new friends.

Which reminds her.] Can I give you one?

[steleheart]

[ Nodding.

This is all new for her, she's had Simon her entire life but having female friends who aren't obligated to like her simply because they've known each other since they were in diapers is fun and strange. ] I'd like that.

[brobeforehos]

[She smiles at the approval, and leans over to give her a bear hug.]

[ Clary hugs her back just as hard, as though she could possibly infuse comfort into Mae just through this. ]

I'm really glad we're friends, okay? And we'll find somewhere awesome to stay and it'll be better.

[brobeforehos]

[Oh, she's doing a very good job of it, at least. Touch starved, still there.]

I'm glad, too.

[ Well, Clary is willing to give her all the hugs she requires from now on.

Settling into the couch. ] So what kind of place do you think you want to look for?

[brobeforehos]

Something with more rooms to it, or more space to the rooms. Just in case we ever need to help a friend out and let them crash somewhere...what do you think?

That definitely sounds like a good idea. Because what if some of our friends show from either world, it'd be awful to not give them a place to stay.

[brobeforehos]

Yeah...part of me doesn't want to think of them coming here, but I'll admit part of me has always thought of anything I do in terms of 'if they come back'. If not for the Ryves, then...for Jamie. There has to be room for Jamie. Always.

[steleheart]

Does the City have bigger places?

[ It sounds like a good idea, really. Somewhere with more space - Clary wonders if Jace will still share a room with her. ]

It might? I don't know if there's a real estate agent in the City. When I came here, this apartment was already being rented by Jamie and Alan, so...

[steleheart]

We could put an advertisement up!

[brobeforehos]

Or look for whatever advertisment already is up.

Oh yeah, we could do that too. [ Blushing slightly. ]

Assuming, of course, we find any. But, let's keep optimism up.

It's okay, I'm super optimistic enough for more than me.

We'll find something, don't worry. And until we do we'll just have to distract ourselves.
