[Rose is shown walking down a corridor with flashlight at hand. It what appears to be the interior of a temple. She continues walking until she reaches a fork in the road and stops.]

Suppose it just couldn't be simple, yeah?

[She sighs and looks at both paths. Her feet begin to move again and she goes right. The more she walks, the more the decor fades on the walls but her eyes are focused on what's ahead. Continuing to walk, she finds herself in a cave. Gone is the decor replaced by jagged rocks. She keeps going, her flashlight and eyes trained on what's in front. Darkness. Empty space. When she finally stops and turns around, she's met by more rocks.]


It’s like I’m going around in circles...



[A figure appears behind her.]

Ohhh I wouldn't say that.

[Rose hesitates to turn at the voice. And when she finally does...]

Took you long enough, yeah?

Well you know high drama is a lot like comedy, Rose. It’s all a matter of timing. You need to do it at just the right moment and you know I never like to miss my cue.

Tell me about it. So, how long has it been exactly?

[She still doesn't believe it though as she stand there keeping her distance.]

Dunno. How long has it been for you?

Seems like ages. But I guess it doesn't really matter in the long run, yeah?

Well, you know how it is with time travel. It could be ages for you, but for me it could be no more than 5 minutes. That's the thing with time travel, you never know whether you're going or coming or coming or going or never have been or never wanted to.

I suppose that's true. Where's--Still travelling, yeah?

Oh yeah, you know me. Never stop. Why would I? Anyway, what are you doing here? This isn't your usual holiday spot.

Decided to take a bit of a detour. Those dimension jumps can be tricky you know.

Just slightly. But I'm working on it. Bit of a challenge now especially. Sort of stuck with no way back. No line back to that other Earth. Teleport disc sort of fried.

Teleport disc, what? Oh Rose what are you ever going to do without me? You're in a cave, and every cave has at least one way in and one way out. There's air in here, so you need to follow the flow of air, find where it's coming from and go that way.

It's complicated. Dunno. Maybe keep jumping. You think it's that easy? In this place?

Robotic yetis, yeah. Long story. Could've sworn I mentioned it.

[Her attention is solely on the figure in the brown trench coat and dark hair. Of course to everyone else she's talking to thin air.]

Voga? Oh that is a new one!

[The figure of the tenth Doctor looks around and then up.]

Same difference. Same point. Oh look, stalagmites. I love stalagmites.

Stalagmites? Where?

[The figure points up.]

On the ceiling. Do you know how long it takes for them to form, Rose?

[She stares up.]

I dunno. Eons?

Years. Hundreds of years of droplets of calcium rich water trickling along the rock, making it grow downwards to a point. And the drops of water fall on the ground and form stalactites that in turn reach upwards to the stalagmites.

That's interesting.

Very. You could spend a lifetime down here and get a greater appreciation for geology.

Unfortunately, sort of don't have that long. Unless of course, I had a TARDIS.

Afraid I can't help you there. But I know you, Rose. I know you'll find a way out of this.

I know. I mean made it this far, yeah?

[She smiles. The tenth Doctor nods and smiles at her.]

Suppose I could try going left and see where that goes. Where's your TARDIS anyway?

Never you mind. You go left and get out of this place. Don't want to stay here forever do you? Off you go now.

Dunno. I mean the company’s nice.

Now what are you still mucking about here for? Get going.

[Rose doesn't move.]

So travell with any gingers lately?

Oh come on Rose. I know when you're stalling. I INVENTED stalling. Really, I did.

[She looks away from him shining the flashlight to the left.]

Sorry. Right. Gotta run and all that.

It's just...what? Afraid of what you'll find when you get out?

Nothing. Doesn't matter.

Oh I think it does. Otherwise you wouldn't be stalling.

I'm not afraid. I'll make it out, you'll see.

So why are you still standing here talking to me? You haven't taken a single step forwards.

[She turns her back to him.]

Because...you know there's something wrong don't you? Something not quite right. That's never stopped you before.

Shut up. Maybe I--

[Words escape her. She's starting to get angry at the image.]

Hmmm?

I'll go if that's what you want.

It's the only way you'll get out of here. Oh and Rose...Before you go, let me give you a little hint that I neglected to give Harry one time in a similar predicament. And no, I don't mean PRINCE Harry.

No! Come on Rose, be real. Harry Sullivan. lovely chap, a little dim sometimes. You'd have loved Harry. brilliant fellow.

Old friend of yours then? Sounds like an interesting fellow. Well suppose this is it, yeah?

[She gives him a small sad smile.]

Yeah, I suppose. But like I neglected to tell Harry, be careful when coming out the other end. You never know what you'll run into.

Oh I am prepared. Trust me on that.

[He smiles at her.]

[Another smile and Rose starts to turn around to head left her flashlight lighting the way but then stops as something occurs to her.]

Hang on Doctor, what did Harry find at the other end?

[She turns to see that the figure has vanished.]
