147 Howls: Christmas is coming

Snow always makes me feel more Christmas-y. Hard to believe that this is my, wow... my fourth Christmas in this place.

I see the mistletoe is out in full force today, so be careful around it if you don't want to be kissed by random people. Or, you know, arrange to be under it if you want to be kissed by someone in particular.

[Mercy's out and about today, dropping off baked goods at the Welcome Center, working at the magic store, doing some last minute Christmas shopping, and, of course can always be found at some point at her house or working on the project car in her garage. Somehow she always gets distracted enough to forget about the mistletoe, so please come kiss her!]

[ Seeing as they're working in the same place, they're bound to end up under the mistletoe together. So, hello, now he can't move because he would rather kiss Mercy instead. He does manage to hold the urge at bay, though.

For now. ]

Oh.

Harry sweeps in with covered coffees and his regular coat, the cold doesn't seem to bother him as much anymore. "Man you would not believe how friendly people are today." He pops a coffee out and sets it on the count in front of Mercy. "Is that just a holiday thing? People in Chicago get surlier closer to Christmas." No he does not realize he's getting kisses because of plants yet. So if he missteps and ends up under one, expect a full out dip and kill, either of his co-workers. "This is better." Clearly he's also only kissed women. Because this would not be considered better if he knew men were going to kiss him too. That would be odd for him.

[Mercy looked at him oddly as he stood there and wondered why he didn't just kiss her already the way she wanted him to. Then she remembered that she really shouldn't be wanting him to kiss her and honestly never had before. And she stood there not moving.]

Boy. This is awkward, isn't it?

Mercy moved forward to greet him, hoping he'd remembered to bring hot chocolate for her instead of coffee, and then suddenly all she could think about was kissing him. She swallowed hard, mistletoe forgotten, just watching him.

And trying to keep the memories of the 'married' weekend she'd spent with the other Harry out of her head.

And trying not to wonder if he'd be equally good at, well... everything.

Which led to her just standing there speechless, staring at him.

Just a bit.

[ Damn it. There's probably no point in resisting, that's fairly common sense. But... Still! He doesn't want to just cave, either. ]

This...

We're not going to be able to fight this off forever are we?

[She was both frustrated and a little amused at the situation.

Charlie won't kill me, will she/

She stared at him and he blinked once because he wasn't quite in range yet and looked back at the cup realizing it had Merlin's name on it. "Ooops, sorry." Popping out the 'Mercy' cup he set that one down next to the first and glanced around for the other wizard.

His attention went back to Mercy who still hadn't spoken and he raised a brow, waving a hand at her. "Come in Mercy." And took a step toward her, leaning down like he was making sure she was inside her own body when he moved into range. And with a grin he stepped in, dipped her back and planted a very friendly kiss on her.

Of course not. It's a curse.

[ So, with a bit of a sigh, he gives in and moves to kiss Mercy a soft kiss. ]

Mercy's arms went around him as he dipped her backward and kissed her. Part of it was to keep herself from feeling like she would fall over backwards and part of it to hold herself closer to him.

She was more than happy to kiss him back - for... reasons. Some of which she didn't want to think about. It was the mistletoe. Yes, that was it.

[She leaned into him, kissing him back gently, then stepping back as the mistletoe let them go.]

Stupid plant.

[She looked up into the air.]

Sorry, Charlie.

So the mistletoe toe might have started it but Harry was feeling pretty good about things, his day so far had been awesome and Mercy was really getting into the kissing thing too. So he let it go on for a moment before swinging her back up and breaking the kiss, "Well!"

He gives her a lopsided grin, "Merry Christmas. I could get used to this."

It's okay. Really.

I've kind of always wanted to say that.

[She smiled at him.]

It's... an old saying. From a commercial. It's just always tickled me.

Anyway... as long as we watch out for the mistletoe we should be okay the rest of today.

It took her a moment to catch her breath. That was some kiss.

She smiled at him, shaking her head a little. "Not a bad way to start the morning."

Then she pointed up at the mistletoe. "Curse day."

Harry snickered and hopped up to sit at a stool and sip his coffee. He tilted his head up at the mistletoe and then frowned. "Oh." Seriously, he'd been starting to feel like women were seeing something awesome today in him. Or at least were really in the holiday spirit. "You are bringer of bad news, you know that? I could have added more self confidence to my meager jug today." He didn't look terribly upset, more teasing.

Oh.

[ Oookay then. ]

Yeah. We should be.

So... you want to tackle the female patrons and I'll take the male?

[She's joking. Mostly, at least. Which is to say, not so much.]

"I might just be the protector of your person from large smelly men who could be randomly kissing you," Mercy pointed out. "But you're welcome to handle the kissing of all the patrons who come in if you'd like."

She was teasing, too. More or less, anyway.

Also, she managed to catch herself before her mouth said he could kiss her anytime he wanted.

"I think I'm going to tread a little more carefully." He gave a little shiver at the thought of what kinds of things could happen if he kissed the wrong person. "You had to kiss a lot of shoppers today? Brings new meaning to the joys of working retail."

"I've been trying to stay behind the counter when they come in - keep a little distance, you know?" Mercy explained. "And on occasion I admit to having hidden out in the back room."

[ He snorts. ]

If you'd like. I don't think I really care.

[ He'll be embarrassed either way. ]

Then... You can deal with the front of the store and I'll hide out in back?

[ He snorts. ]

Hide out? No, if you're just going to hide we're not splitting at all.

"Heh, if all else fails, lock the door huh? Seems like a solid plan to me. Maybe we should put out breath mints just to be safe." He picks up his own coffee and takes a sip.

[Mercy laughed.]

Worth a try!

Though I say that if we see someone heading for the shop that we don't think either of us would want to kiss - we both dive for the back room and hide out there.
