Bit odd this place. Then again they just keep getting odder and odder, yeah? Still Mickey would be jealous just about now. S'ppose a bit more exploring couldn't hurt but first--

[A pause as the sound of button pressing can be heard along with echoing footsteps.]

Blimey. Well with my current luck wasn't really expecting to be in proper Earth, anyway. Would've been nice though.

[The sound of more steps as she continues her walk.]

It's a pocket universe. The residents are drawn from their own times and dimensions and held indefinitely.

Do you need me to send you a map?

[Her tone is completely surprised.]

[She receives it and skims it over.]

Thanks. So tell me Bruce, any interesting sights you'd recommend to see?

[And she realizes she hasn't given her name yet.]

Sorry a bit rude of me, yeah? I'm Rose.

Let me get this straight, Rose. You've been sucked into a pocket universe and your main question is about sightseeing?

[She just has to laugh.]

So not a local then? It's just a reasonable question to ask in my experience. I know there's got to be something about this pocket universe, yeah?

Something, yes. A lot of somethings. All kinds of somethings.

Since we've covered the pocket universe part, we can move on to the forces that run this place and randomly inflict life-changing events on people here. Most people call them curses, and they tend to last about 24 hours.

The people here are from a variety of times and places, and no one knows an actual way out, only that no one really seems to stay here permanently.

Is that right? Sounds like something I'd be into.

Sounds a bit dangerous. So then there's got to be a way out.

[Pause cause she's taking all this in.]

I just hit you with a lot at once, didn't I?

A few days ago I had my consciousness swapped with another guy's, so he was in my body and I was in his. I've seen network records of sudden snow in July, and apparently people turn into animals. There's more, but that's a sample.

And I've saved my least favorite detail for last. Sometimes you'll find out that you, or at least a very reasonable facsimile of you, have been here before and people will remember you even if you don't remember them.

Well, maybe. I can handle it though. Sort of rusty, you know?

Snow in July? Well that's not really all that unusual especially where I'm from. Animals...I'm sure there's an...Wait, hold on did you say swapped consciousness with another person? Oh that is very different.

...What? Bruce that's just really out there.

Swapped consciousnesses, yeah. It didn't work out so well overall.

I know and I understand if you don't believe it at first, but give it a day or three and you'll see for yourself.

I'd imagine not. Sorry to hear. Are they always that bad?

Oh I believe, trust me on that. It's just a bit...unexpected, ya know? Aliens and travelling around time and space again is one thing. But curses...that's a bit Harry Potterish.

They seem to vary. I've only experienced one other, and it had me uncontrollably throwing my communicator and money on the ground. I'm starting to collect data to see if I can find any patterns.

You do a lot of traveling in time and space?

Now that one seems to be a bit silly. That's interesting. Hopefully there's something to it. Is there any way to avoid these so called, curses?

Sort of. Used to. Now it's more like dimension hopping. Sort of bumpy, really. What about you? Where are you from?

The universal answer to curse avoidance is "can't happen." I can't say if that's true or not, I'm still pretty new here.

Okay, the dimension hopping explains how you're taking this so well. I don't really do dimension hopping. Most recently I was in New York City.

Interesting. How long have you been here for, Bruce?

Nothing quite like it really. You should try it sometime. Though if you think about this could probably count as a dimension hop.

No place quite like New York City. That's nice.

Two weeks as of today, but that's where it gets a little complicated, since "Bruce Banner" has a presence on the network going back about three months. He's not me. Wasn't me.

I could have lived without the dimension hop, to be frank. We were just dusting off from an alien invasion and I had some good things lined up in my life.

That's not too long. So you've got a double then? Maybe some parallel universe, yeah? It's completely possible. I met my parallel self once. It was sort of weird really.

Alien invasion? What sort of aliens? What did they look like? Maybe you'll find a way out.

I'm going with a near parallel. Close enough for most details to be the same, but a few are different.

They were called the Chitauri, mostly fairly humanoid. I don't know if the really big things that came swimming out of the hole were also Chitauri, or fully mechanical, or maybe biomechanical. I'd lean toward biomechanical, but I didn't have time to start the post-invasion exam.

So far the person I've talked to who has been here the longest has been here nearly four years. Everyone else has only been here a few months on average.

What sort of differences?

Never heard of that lot before. They sound interesting though.

4...Years? Like human years? Blimey.

The most obvious [Or at least the one he's most likely to talk about.] is that he claimed to be a medical doctor, and if he's even mostly like me, he wasn't lying, but I'm not an M.D.

They didn't bother with the "we come in peace" bit before they started shooting.

You know, I didn't ask her if she meant human years. I guess I should start asking that, shouldn't I?
