I should, perhaps, apologise for my behaviour yesterday. I do not, of course, think that I am the Angel of Death. I think it should be obvious by now that it was all a curse. So to anyone I might have unsettled with it all, I do apologise.

In the scheme of things, my stalking about on the rooftops while wearing a pair of costume wings seems to have been rather mild compared to the 'flaming swords' I've since heard about. I don't think branches and pens and rakes are quite the same as the flaming sword given to the angel who guards the gates to the Garden of Eden.

Not that it matters. After all, my namesake 'went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.'

Truth be told, this entire month has been rather benign, so far as I'm concerned, at least--aside from kissing and being kissed for the better part of the day and then stalking on rooftops. On the other hand, I've not been transformed into a cat or a woman or a child, nor been made to act too strangely nor been made to hallucinate too greatly. I suppose I should be grateful that all I've had to endure is some kissing and stalking about on rooftops for a day.

I know quite well it could be worse. October is coming quite soon, anyway.

[ooc: Because I suck and am full of fail, I didn't post yesterday. But, suffice to say, Cain was hanging out on rooftops, wearing too much black and a pair of black wings that he found in one of the opera house costume closets and thinking he was the/an angel of death. Because, you know. Feel free to have seen him.]

Do curses tend to reoccur? Because if they do, maybe I'll get another chance to see that.

They do, sometimes. Though whether we'll see this one again remains to be seen.

Even if it doesn't, maybe I'll just keep an eye on you anyway.

Confused by being told I missed a couple of weeks here when it feels like five minutes. But it seems everyone was right about that part.

I thought you wanted to see me stalking on rooftops. It would have to be 'Angel of Death' all over again if you want that.

I've put up with that myself. I was at home for a fortnight once myself, but only a week passed here in the City. It's disconcerting to say the least.

Yeah, that sounds just as weird. I don't get why time can't just pass the same for both places.

I suppose it's something like the way time doesn't seem quite the same when one is asleep. That's the nearest likening I can think of.

It is kinda like that. Feel like you slept for a short nap. Turns out it's already half way through the next day.

Yes, exactly. I know a lot of other people explain it with ideas of different worlds moving at different times, or the idea that one is returned to the precise moment from which one was taken in one's own world while the City moves on. But to describe what it's like, I think I can only say it's like sleep.

Wizards are common. So are witches and ghosts. You'll be different!

It's not a bad way. I'd hate to think of either world as just a dream, though. I want to think this place is just as real as home.

Well, yes, but it's only a likening. I don't mean to say that this world or my real world is a dream.

As Augusts go, this really hasn't been such a bad one, has it? I remember I once thought that August was a month that tried to drive wedges between people and upset relationships, but I haven't really seen anything of the sort this time.

And then, of course, there's September 1st to look forward to.

And, you know, I was just talking to someone about dreams. How strange that it would come up again.

That is what I thought, I'm afraid.

I can certainly think of worse ones in past years. Of course, some would argue that the day spent kissing one another could drive a wedge between people. But, yes, it doesn't seem to have been such a bad one as past years.

That one's not usually an August sort of curse, though. More often than not we have it in December with the mistletoe.

But we did have it in August some time ago--I actually checked back through the Network to see if I was remembering correctly. I'm not sure why it falls in August, but it has happened before.

Just dreams, I'm afraid. I was busy arguing about the differences in daydreams and dreams had while sleeping, but I think he was more interested in hearing what it was one dreamed of.

There are daydreams, which is really just letting your mind wander and which are very much under your control. And there are dreams that you have when you're asleep, which are quite different and not generally under one's own control. Does that make it clearer?

You can try to control your dreams, but it's not the same. Isn't that usually your subconscious sorting stuff out?

Now I think you're just being insufferable wanting to be right about all this. Perhaps I shouldn't even tell you why the first is a holiday.

I only find it strange--but, then, I've heard any number of stories about heaven and hell and judgment in my time in the City. And I don't know that these other stories hold true in my own world.

There are many versions of Assiah, that is true. For your sake, I hope your god is more forgiving.

The details of matters between myself and God are rather complicated. But I do thank you.
