[Rapunzel's working on something in the kitchen with Pascal, humming to herself as she works on a cake.]

Okay, so I have no idea what Mindy wants for her birthday, but you can't really go wrong with chocolate cake, right?

[Pascal, who's been working with a grater that appears comically over-sized next to him, nods eagerly and looks up, giving Rapunzel a reassuring smile. In doing so, he gets distracted long enough to run out of chocolate...and grate his little chameleon hand.]

Pascal! Stop, your hand!

[Pascal pulls back immediately, looking at his slightly cup up hand in horror. Rapunzel sighs, because this is obviously not the first time this has happened, picking up Pascal and giving him A Look as she wraps a small bunch of hair around his hand.]

Honestly, Pascal, I keep telling you not to get distracted in the kitchen...you remember the last time one of us stopped paying attention while baking? You almost got made into a pie.

[Her chameleon friend grimaces at the memory, and Rapunzel just laughs.]

Okay, you know the drill. Just hold still a second.

[And Rapunzel begins to sing, her hair glowing as she does so.]

Flower, gleam and glow...let your power shine...make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine...

[As she's singing and healing Pascal's foot, a voice comes from off-screen.]

And here we see the lovely miss Rapunzel, working her magic on her good friend, Pascal. That's right, folks, the hair isn't just long for show! It's got magic healing powers, too, as you can see here. Wonder why she's kept that under wraps for so long?

[At this, Rapunzel freezes in horror, turning to the camera. She suddenly realizes somebody has been filming her. She's been good at not telling everybody about her hair, only a select few who she trusts/who need the immediate help her hair can provide...and now everybody will know.]

Who said that? How did you get in here? Stop filming this minute!!

[She gets up, quickly putting a confused Pascal on the counter, before going to get whoever is filming this as the video ends.]

Looks like the curse got you, too. [He's worried for you now, 'Punzie. That's the sort of thing that would interest a lot of people.]

[She's worried too, and it shows. She's trying very, very hard not to panic.]

I can't get it taken down, Serrure! Everybody's going to see, everybody's going to know...

Rapunzel? Are you okay?

[She is not okay. Not at all. Since that video managed to slink onto the Network, Rapunzel has decided the best thing to do with her secret out is to hide in her closet. Soo, this response is a little dark.]

I'm dead. I'm dead I'm dead I'm dead, everybody knows now, maybe Mother was right, I can't ever go out again...

[Just this face. This is serious business.] Rapunzel, you listen to me. If anyone comes near you for your hair, you let me know.

[And they might...possibly never be seen again. Or at least not for a while.]

This was never supposed to happen! I only told people I trusted, or people who really needed the help! Everybody knows now, they're going to try and use it, just like Mother said...

[She seems to have temporarily forgotten her outstanding issues with her mother, in her panic attack.]

[And Mindy listens, nose wrinkling in dislike. Nope. She liked Rapunzel. No one was going to go near Rapunzel while she was here.]

You tell them if they touch your hair, I will fuck them up.

[Yes, Mindy. Just go on and teach Rapunzel a swear word.]

Don't be upset with yourself, Rapunzel. This City likes to dick with us all.

[Oh, look! Another word Rapunzel shouldn't know!]

It's not your fault.

Rapunzel-san.... I knew you were kind, but not that you could do something so amazing.

Are you alright, though?

But it is! If I had just listened and stayed inside where I belonged instead of thinking I could actually have a normal life...

[The poor girl is on the verge of tears now.]

She always warned me that people would use it for their own selfish gain, that people would try to take it and that they'd hurt me for my gift and now it's going to actually happen and everybody knows...

[She is not, in fact, and has locked herself in her closet in an attempt to try and stay safe from the hoards of evil or selfish people who will now want to use her hair.

Also, she's having a slight panic attack.]

Everybody knows now, Ken, everybody knows and I can't go outside ever again because they'll try to use it and...

[Mindy's decided Rapunzel needs a hug. And birthday candy. So she watches her for a moment before shutting the video off. Yes, she's coming over unannounced. And she doesn't hug many people so enjoy it, Rapunzel. Knock, knock. ~~Hit-Girl~~ Mindy calling]

Why would they try to.... It would only be useful to anyone if they were injured, right? And you would heal anyone that's hurt.

[Rapunzel doesn't answer the door right away, but when she does, she's armed herself to the teeth...with her frying pan. Though, she does relax when she sees it's Mindy.]

...Hi, Mindy. Happy birthday.

[She didn't finish your cake...]

It's a gift that needs to be protected. People could...could abuse it to stay young forever, never die, never grow weak...

Or, or they could...do something to find out why my hair does this, or...or...I don't know, sell it and me on a black market somewhere because it doesn't work when it's cut...

Hi, Rapunzel. [She was starting to grow concerned when Rapunzel didn't answer the door right away and was about to break in. And after a moment, Rapunzel gets...sort of a hug. She's not big on hugging but she does what she can. And then she spots Punzie's weapon of choice.]

What's that for?

Why would anyone want to stay young forever?

No. I won't allow that. You're a person, not a thing to be sold!

[Rapunzel gives Mindy a weak smile and hugs her right back.]

Oh. Er...it's my frying pan...I use it as a weapon sometimes.

[It works, okay?]

I don't know! These are all reasons why I can't leave the tower, though, because the minute somebody finds out about this, they'll try to find a way to exploit it!

[She looks it over, even reaching for it before looking at Rapunzel.] May I? Is it cast-iron? Because that has some serious heft to it. I'm impressed.

Not everyone would do that! And you have friends here, right? None of us would let anything happen to you.

Oh, yeah, it is. It's pretty heavy, but I'm sort of used to doing heavy lifting.

I kind of beat my friend Flynn over the head with it back home...three times. I thought he was trying to break in to steal my hair. I was wrong, but can't be too careful, right?

...[She gulps, taking a deep breath, nodding.]

I know. I know, I'm just scared...

Who told you people'd steal your hair, anyway? [Mindy's carefully weighing the frying pan, even tossing it into the air and catching it with ease. She can do this with guns; a frying pan is NBD.] And how come your friend isn't dead from being hit with a frying pan? This thing is kinda heavy.

Flynn has a very hard head.

[Seriously, he is pretty impressive when it comes to surviving injuries. Thinking about him makes her smile a bit...a smile that goes away when she realizes she didn't answer Mindy's first question.]

...my mother. Or, I thought she was my mother. The woman who raised me. It's...sort of complicated.

[His head must be made of adamantium. This is the only explanation. The smile gets a grin from Mindy but it fades just as Rapunzels' does.]
