Three Moons ℂ Video/Action

[The camera shows Lena fanning her face out in the sun. There's perspiration on her forehead and she's squinting, but then she turns the camera away to show the line in front of her. When she tilts it back to show her face again, she's wearing sunglasses, though there was no rustling sound as she got them out. And that was because she didn't, but some non-magical people might have been freaked out seeing sunglasses conjured out of thin air. She had turned in to face the building so the others in line wouldn't catch her doing it.]

This line is ridiculous, and it's like a hundred degrees out here. It better be worth it once I get inside.

[A trickle of sweat runs down from her temple and down her cheek. She quickly flicks it away, looking irritated.]

Anybody else in this line somewhere? How close are you to the front doors? And what are you most looking forward to inside?

I can just see the doors. It feels like I've just been standing for ages, though, geez.

[He holds the device up, panning it around. The front doors are visible quite a ways away.]

You think it'll move soon? I really want to get a look at that new game. It's gonna be awesome.

[Mindy's not cursed. She has no need to be in line but once she saw what was going on, she went to work. She purchased a wagon, a giant cooler, a lot of ice and some sodas and water and, along with various snack foods, she and Serrure are making their way down the line of people, selling their wares. There's a sign. Everything is cheap and Mindy is very entertained at her luck.

She pulls up beside Lena and holds up the sign.] You look like you could use some water. I'll give you a discount.

I am in line! The doors are far away--half a mile, maybe?

I have no idea what is inside, but I was told that it was worth waiting in a long line for.

Lucky! At least now I know what the doors look like.

[She sighs and adjusts her sunglasses.]

It has to, right? The place has to be open by now, so the line has to move as they let in people.

[Lena looks amused. This girl's definitely smarter than any of them in line who didn't grab a water bottle before getting there. She starts to dig in her bag for coins.]

Sure! Is the discount based on how much I'm sweating?

That's about how far I am too, though I wonder which of us is in front of the other.

I heard there's a lot of writers and poets inside! And one guy mentioned video games.

[Mindy nods, still grinning.] Uh-huh. You look like you need it the most.

[Mindy digs for a water bottle at the bottom of the cooler, holding it out to Lena and mentioning the very cheap price.]

[Lena takes the bottle and drops the money into her hand.]

Thanks. [Then she takes a long draw from the bottle and looks completely refreshed.] Wow, I definitely needed that. How long have you guys been out here?

Uh...[And she sort of shrugs.] M'not actually sure? I think an hour?

[And here Lena's aware of every excruciating minute that passes.]

You must have made a lot of money by now, huh?

[Mindy hesitates, a practiced hesitation, before she nods a bit sheepishly.] Yeah. A bit. Serrure and myself are splitting it at the end of the day.

If it wasn't worth it, would there be a line?

That's cool. But don't you want to attend the convention too?

There's not really anything of interest to me in there. [Well, nothing she can visibly show interest in. There was a weapons expo she wanted to wander free in but it didn't seem wise, considering she was back to trying to keep that quiet.]

I might peek in later, once the line dies down.

You have a point. They should have one of those things like at amusement parks that spray a mist over you while you wait in line.

[Which reminds her that, duh, she should just make it rain. She moves the camera closer to her face so he can't see her hair curling and uncurling as she Casts. Soon there's thunder as clouds roll in.]

Or, well, rain works too.

Yeah, it's crazy long right now. But hey, at least you'll have plenty of money to spend once you do get in, right?

[She grins, nodding once.] Exactly. Who knows what I'll be able to buy at the end of this.

I will look for you, although I may not be successful. I believe everyone standing in line next to me is considerably taller than I am.

That would be good! There must be other things, as well, to warrant such a line.

Maybe there's just something wrong going on inside with registration? It happened at a convention I went to once and I had to wait foreeveeer.

Totally worth it once I was inside, but still.

What sort of things are you into? There's usually comics at these things, right? I heard there were video games too.

Well hopefully they're providing shade.

Yeah, I'll bet. You don't see people come out like this for just anything. I'll bet the SWAG bags are amazing.

Oh, yeah maybe. Like some jerk is arguing over something petty and won't let the organizers move to the next person.

[Oh, balls. That question. Mindy decides to keep it a bit vague, looking at the line with mild trepidation.] Just...typical kid stuff. Except video games. I'm not really...I don't play. Video games. There were a few things I heard that I might check out later but then I keep hearing there's some adult stuff in there that I'm warned to stay away from. So. Awkward.

[She shrugs.]

I'm sure those areas of the hall are clearly labeled as not for kids. Or at least I hope they would be. I've never been to one of these things before.

[Andy was that person one year. He will never admit this.]

Aha, yeah... Hopefully, if that's the case, this guy gets the stick out of his butt pretty soon. It's getting way too hot and I don't want to bounce the line to get a drink.
