[Lena's sitting at a cafe across from the fountain. There actually wasn't a seat available, but she persuaded some people to clear a table for her. All it took was making eye contact and reminding them they had somewhere else to be.]

So, from everyone's reactions, I take it the population boom has happened before, right?

[And she's wondering why a lot of people are being so annoyed and put out about it.]

Do the new people here really disrupt things or cause riots? Because other than that, I can see how it'd get a little annoying having to fill the newbies in, but they're all stuck here like us, and it's not their fault so... [She's going off on a tangent here. Time to reel it back in.]

I mean, they're probably freaked out. I don't mind being the welcoming committee for them. I was just wondering if there was anything different about them from the usual newcomers, that's all.

[Pause.]

And some people seem to think their loved ones are here now. Is that a thing that usually happens with this?

[She doesn't say anymore, but she doesn't yet turn off the camera either. She's forgotten it for a moment as she's doing a Caster thing: reaching out with her mind and calling out to her boyfriend to see if he's there, like she does everyday.]

[ooc: Ready for 4th wall shenanigans! I doubt any characters actually know her canon, but if there's a slim chance, please don't tell her she's fictional. Also her canon point isn't up to date; it's the end of Beautiful Darkness.]

I have never seen this curse, but Tessa says that we first met on a day like this. I think that the barriers must fluctuate, or break, or maybe the deities get bored and allow more people to come in. It lasts for two days, I'm told.

I have not seen riots, either.

Wait, they're only here for two days? So this is a curse?

[Weird.]

So these people all need a place to spend the night, but then they disappear again?

Yes, that is what I have learned. It isn't a clever curse. The deities make it very difficult, finding a bed for everyone for one night and then sending them home again the next day.

That's like, stupid on top of stupid.

[And now she's wondering if it's such a good idea to wish she could see her family and friends here if they're just going to disappear tomorrow.]

But it would be nice, I think, to see people who have stayed at home.

In a way, I guess. It'd be like getting a visit while you're in jail.

[Grumble grumble angsty teen grumble.]

L! L, is that you?

[She jumps up from her cafe chair so fast that it goes flying back and people start looking at her funny. Especially when she just stares off at the middle distance and doesn't move or say anything aloud.]

Ethan?! Where are you?

I'm in a fountain. Where are we?

[And now she's running that way, dodging people left and right because boy, is it crowded near the fountain.]

It's the City. I'll explain everything, just hold on. I need to find you among all these people first.

[Her heart's pounding and her emotions are going crazy right now, so is it any surprise that clouds start rolling in and there's thunder?]

[When she gets there, she'll see him standing by the fountain, soaking wet, wringing out his shirt and looking irritated. Still, he can tell the minute she's nearby, because he looks up suddenly, scanning the crowd.]

[It's like a cheesy romance film because the crowd seems to part in the perfect spot and she can then see him standing there. Then their eyes meet and she's running for him, flinging her arms around his neck and getting the front of her shirt all wet. Not that she cares about that right now, because it's Ethan and he's here.]

It's you! You're here. You're really here.

At least it is not such a bad jail.

But I just saw you earlier today.

When we're not cursed, you mean.

[She laughs because, oh, he doesn't know any of this yet.]

You might have, but I haven't seen you for a month! I've been trapped here where time runs differently.

[Pulling back, she beams up at him and goes up on tiptoe to kiss him. She knows that Chekov said these new arrivals will be gone tomorrow, but she refuses to believe that. She and Ethan are connected, so she's going to be selfish and believe he's here to stay.]

A month?!

[Oh, kisses, okay. Kisses are awesome. He just got some this morning but he will not say no to them now. He does break it, though, to look at her.]

How can time run differently? Is it some sort of Caster thing?

[Nooo, Ethan! You can kiss and Kelt at the same time! Oh, all right, fine.]

No, it's a different sort of magic. It brings people here from different places and times.

[She slides her hands to his shoulders, then up his neck to his face.]

I check for you everyday to see if you're here. And now you finally are.

'Course I am. I couldn't leave you alone here.

[He looks around, uncertainly.]

Where is here, anyway?

And now that you're here, you aren't going anywhere.

[Because if she believes it, she can make it happen, right? She already knows what it's like to lose everything, and she's not about to let it happen again.]

It's just called the City. Nobody really knows more than that. But it's somewhere outside of normal time. Maybe it's like the Great Barrier?

I'm not leaving you alone here. Did you just get stolen here too?

[She smiles, glad to hear him say that. The she brushes his hair out of his eyes, nodding.]

Yeah, out of no where. I thought my mother was the cause at first, but nope. It's some group people here call the deities.

[And only now after touching his hair does she take note that he's soaking wet.]

I'm sorry. We shouldn't be standing here. Let's go back to my place and I'll get you a towel.

Not all curses are bad.

[He shivers a little, though whether it's due to her or his state of being soaked is questionable.]
