7th spell ~ [Accidental video | Early morning]
[The curtains aren't drawn shut, so there's a soft light coming through the window when the broadcast starts. Merlin's lying on the bed with a full outfit on, forehead furrowed in a deep, troubled frown when a black cat jumps onto his back, startling him awake. The cat dives under him when he pushes himself up, eyes glowing yellow when he opens them, and while he fumbles for the phone he knows he just dropped nearby him on the bed the evening before, he blinks around him, at the way there's something twisting - raw power surging through the air - and the sound of distant screams.
...oh. This looks just like his dream, aside from the bed. Brilliant.
Looking down at the cat, he mumbles in a hushed tone:]
Shhh, Shadow.
[He rubs a hand over his face before he scoops the cat up to his chest while he sits up, squints his eyes at the phone. Oh...
Brilliant.]
Good morning, City. Not that I'd call it good. So it's dreams-becoming-real day, or something, then?
[Maybe he, and his voice, is trembling just a bit.]
I think I'll stay inside today.

action!
How are you standing Arthur, then?
action!
I'm not. [She pauses.] No, that's not true. He's fine. No different from a lot of people I know back home, really. [And then she grins, teasing,] How's he standing me?
action!
Fine! He may not act like it, but a lot of people who ended up becoming closest to him were those who spoke back to him. He likes being treated like he's nothing special.
action!
[She tips her head a fraction, considering, a fond smile on her lips.]
I expect that's one of the things Harry liked about this place. He never said it, but I'd imagine it's fairly exhausting—everyone knowing who you are and watching your every move. Anyway, we'll see how, er, close I get to Arthur before I knock him over the head if he compares me to a lamp post again.
action!
Harry?
action!
Oh, probably. People say I've got a short temper. [She grins, flips her hair over her shoulders.] I can't imagine why.
[And then her smile softens as she shrugs, clarifying,]
He's... [Was? Is?] That boyfriend I told you about.
action!
It's sort of been the opposite for me.
[Which is a little... amusing in a way, he supposes.]
At least in one way.
[But then he doesn't have to think about all that destiny stuff here.]
action!
Yeah, I suppose it has been. Look, I tried to be very professional about it, alright, I can't say the same for my brothers.
action!
Hey, I'm not complaining. It's amusing.
[Even if he's not fully sure he's worthy of that amount of admiration.]
action!
I'm so glad our history books are amusing to you, Merlin.
action!
Why not?
action!
[She pauses, then abruptly holds out her hand.]
Come on, then. You haven't got to sit around here listening to that.
action!
Still, he ends up taking it, grimacing.]
Where would you say we need to go, then?
action!
Anywhere. D'you honestly think it'll be better to just sit on your arse and hear that for hours on end? Or would you rather be distracted by something more exciting than just my charming company? [She grins.] Come on, Merlin—if magic can't shut it up then we'll just have to get creative, won't we.
action!
action!
See?
action!
Briefly licking his lips, he absently rubs at the back of his neck.]
Nothing says it won't follow me, or that it's not just sounds.
action!
I'm just trying to help.
action!
I know. Sorry, but I'm... probably not easy to deal with right now. [At all.] We... We can try.
[If he's with someone else, maybe it won't be so bad.]
