[Ciel hated the glass city.

It was better than being trapped in the goddamn sand though. He frowns and looks away. Something seems to be troubling him... but it can't be said exactly what (aside from hideous city of glass and the desert. Both are infinitely frustrating.)

He's looking at a piece of paper but it can't be seen what's written and he hasn't tried to communicate with the other side. He wonders if Rin is alright.

[Ciel is not the only one hating what's happening to the City.

Everytime Alois glances at the Network, he sees those horrible monsters hiding in the sand and trying to eat people alive. He sees children his age, or even as young as Luca, helpless and risking their lives in the middle of that hellish Sand Desert; and he can only cry for hours afterwards because he hates all that violence. He's seen enough of it when Father was still alive, and after he reached Nirvana he thought he would have never witnessed that kind of things again.

The whole household had been lucky enough to wake up in the Glass City, and Alois doesn't even want to imagine what would have happened if things hadn't gone that way.

Still, even though living in the Glass City isn't as dangerous as living in the Sand Desert, it isn't easy either. Every single piece of furniture in the Manor got turned into glass; and even though Claude, Sebastian and Ciel can all easily use their powers to bring everything back to normal, only a few hours later they have to repeat the whole, extenuating process.

Despite everything, since day one Alois had put up his usual mask of cheerfulness and acted as if nothing had changed around his brother. He had to make sure Luca was always too busy playing to even think of glancing at the atrocities on the Network, and that he was entertained enough not to miss his toys, which got all turned into glass as well.

But then one night he'd seen Gilbert and Sephiroth on the Network, trapped in the Sand Desert and fighting off those monsters. This, added to the fact that nobody knew where Rin was, had been too much for Alois to handle.

He's had several hysteria attacks in the past few days, due to all the stress he's accumulated in the past two months.

Too many bad things happened to him lately. First Claude arrived and openly admitted he hates him. Then Alois got paranoid over whether Sebastian's arrival would change things between him and Ciel or not. Then he stressed himself over whether or not Claude and Sebastian would start a war against him. Then Gilbert left service. Then he got assaulted by a vampire and was nearly killed. Then there had been his subsequent mental breakdown and desperate need for attention, which drove him to do something as extreme as feeding his own blood to Ciel (that afternoon ended rather badly. Alois ended up running out of the room because Ciel had become too aggressive and inhuman to handle. He still has nightmares about that day, sometimes). Now people are dying in the Desert City, and everything around them keeps turning into glass, and Ciel seems more depressed than usual.

Alois hasn't felt this miserable in years.

All he wants right now is to be comforted. That is why he silently walks in Ciel's study and stands next to Ciel's chair. He's been unable to sleep the whole night, because his bed kept turning into glass and Claude had to come in and change it continuously. He is barefoot and still in his nightgown, but he feels so depressed he doesn't even mind the cold.

There are dark circles under his eyes and he looks exhausted, ill and fragile.]

Ciel, the fairy tale book you gave me turned into glass again. I don't know what to do now.

[He can barely restrain his tears while speaking. If reality has to be so horrible, he should at least be allowed to escape it by reading fairy tales. Yet it seems the City won't even allow him that much, and he doesn't know if he's strong enough to accept it, after everything else he's going through.]
