Video in the Desert City

[The video starts with a lot of static before it clears up a bit to reveal that the device is in the sand looking up at the figures of Aya and Ken standing back to back. There are shadows all around them and when the static clears again it becomes obvious that they're surrounded by the desert monsters. Even with both men being armed this doesn't look good.]

Hey, Aya.

Yes?

[Aya glances over his shoulder at the brunette.]

You know, I don't mind this so much with you at my back. [Ken flashes Aya a grin who responses with a smile of his own.]

Same here.

With a bang?

Yes.

[They both turn back to their targets with determined looks before rushing at them, each with their own war cry. One moves in to bite Ken while another is about to slash Aya deeply across the chest....


...Then it all goes to static before the video ends.]


[ooc: Aya and Ken going to their deaths here! They will be losing their devices so they'll have trouble communicating until the event is over after they revive.]

[Dawn witnesses the little scene between Aya and Ken and is just about to speak up to ask where they are so her sister and her can come help them when the feed goes dead. After all, Buffy has kept both herself and Dawn alive this whole time cause she rocks like that. But it's obvious when the scene goes blank what has happened here. Ken and Aya probably won't be making it back. And Buffy and Dawn have no way of getting to them since they didn't give a location. She didn't even get to say goodbye, which is probably for the best since she'd probably get all weepy and waily. She knows better than most that there's no time for weepy and waily during a crisis. So there's nothing to do but be reminded that this curse sucks, try not to cry (at least not where anyone can see her cry) and instead be thankful that she's with her sister during this whole thing who makes mincemeat of these big desert monsters. Hopefully her sisters bad assery (and what little help Dawn herself gives her) can carry the two of them through this, despite the tragic losses they suffer along the way.]

[Mara screams when she sees the video, but it doesn't go through the battered network. She throws her comm against the wall, it doesn't break, but it will be awhile before she can even look at it. There are no words for the pain she's feeling, nothing that can soothe it, nothing that can make it go away. Sometimes she wishes she never let him in because times like these... she just can't. She doesn't have the coping mechanisms that normal people do, when her world goes sideways, she can't cope.

Everything might be made of glass, but her art supplies are still where she keeps them and with them her emergency stash of pills. If she can't help him, she can take something so she won't have to feel until he comes back. Because he will, and then she'll talk to the Deities - if they're even listening anymore - and she'll give something up. Then she will pretend that everything is okay again and maybe eventually it will be.]
