Peaceful, yes, in theory. There are hostilities between the Federation and other powers--the Klingon Empire, primarily--and fighting is sometimes inevitable. My captain is unusually good at finding fights. But on the planets we find and observe, we are entirely scientific and peaceful. [Unless the planet fights back.]
