[He almost startles a little when he feels her hands on his shoulders, even if he could have predicted what she was going to do from the moment she walked around behind the chair. Still, he doesn't pull away, as he'd be inclined to do with so many other people. The stiffness in his shoulders could be from the surprise of physical contact, or it could simply be the stiffness that was there already.

He knows, of course, that this is likely some kind of ploy to get him to relax in more ways than one, to relax his standards about how she spends his money, but he's not about to do that.]


If you want to buy more things, or nicer things, then you need more money. If you need more money, then you have the option of working more.

[That's logical, to him. One doesn't get something for nothing, after all.]
