Well... more like a sense of a shift in the local balance of power towards an unknown source, possibly one dealing with death, which considering the time of year isn't surprising, as it tries to effect the City.

So do you think this means some kind of curse is coming? Something bad? Is this a curse itself? Or maybe we're just both really paranoid. Maybe it's as simple as that.

No. No. This hit my [god] necromancer senses. Usually those don't go off for no reason. As for what it means, it's probably bad... but I don't think it's a curse itself.
