[Well, this is Lyds as she's meant to be seen; hair perfect, dressed in the best (or as best as she can manage given her current resources, which she somehow still manages to make look spectacular. She smiles to whoever out there watching and listening.]

Scott McCall is having a party for his Very Merry Seventeenth Un-Birthday, and I'm gonna throw it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the resources I would normally at home [and lbr at home she would probably never be the one throwing Scott a party but there you go] so I need the help of kind souls willing to assist me in getting what I need. I met a great many interesting and friendly people at Ginny's birthday party - a fantastic bash in and of itself - so I'm hoping some of you would be willing to reach out with offers of assistance, and some of you I'm actually going to try and contact directly.


I need a venue. Music. Food. [A thoughtful pause.] Maybe strippers. [Because the look on Scott's face would be epic.

Lydia smiles into the camera. She's got dimples. How does one resist the dimples?]

I had my last birthday party in Xanadu, it's beautiful out there in the summer. Fairy lights and lanterns in the trees and things. If you want something different, the Blue Light's a great jazz club I used to wait tables at.

Can't help you on the strippers.

Xanadu. I'm all for stately pleasure domes. Sounds like it might be kind of forest-y? That would suit pretty perfectly. Do they charge for it to be used as a venue? Because if not, it sounds like it might be perfect.

Maybe. What kind of strippers are we talking about? Classy strippers who do aerial work on poles? Saucy burlesque strippers?

More the showgirl variety, I guess. Glitter, feathered headdresses, y'know.

No, I reckon you can just pick a place and fix it up as you like. We've never had any trouble. I love it out there, I spend loads of my free time just flying out there—

This is shaping to have distinct possibilities. Apparently there's some kind of rain forest? I wonder if we could get Scott into a loin cloth.

I can ask around. The City does pretty okay for that kinda entertainment. Lemme guess, you're not gonna tell Scott about the strippers until it's too late?

I thought I might just not tell him about them at all. Surprise always makes for more fun, don't you think?

Sometimes. 'n sometimes people get real mad about surprises. Can't tell which one he'd be, but I think you should do it anyway.

Celebrating an unbirthday. I didn't realize we were taking cues from Carroll and his Mad Hatter.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether he's turning seventeen or not. So I'm resolving the issue by just declaring it an unbirthday.

Personally, I can't argue with the idea of celebrating a non-birthday with presents. That's 364 days worth of shopping opportunity.

I hope he's not the type who's hard to shop for.

[He's 17. Ginny's 21! In Lydia's opinion that's perfectly acceptable.]

Let's just say that I don't feel any guilt over imagining what loincloths might look like on unsuspecting friends.
