[ But he's been trained to absorb the vibe of the area, to blend in. Dressed as a genteel but shabby innkeeper, he's out walking at the fringes of the City square. Imagine, Li, walking after bedtime, walking in the dark. He hardly seems like a night hawk; more like the kind of boy who wakes with a stupid smile on his face as soon as the sun rises, and who has trouble swallowing his yawns once it sets. So why is he out here, away from his warm bed, his messy hair kept in place with a three-cornered hat and his frou-frou shirt and sashed vest covered with a long coat? ]
