[Rose looks a bit frantic on the video screen. She's in the city of glass but it's almost impossible to tell where in the city she's at exactly. She's spent all day running about looking for any of the doctors. To say she's in a state of panic, would be putting it mildly. In fact, she's run the gamut of panic-type emotions today. She started out with mild panic that advanced to full blown panic and eventually sobs fueled by panic. She's finally made it to the determination portion of the panic program. She's got her jaw set squarely but her eyes are still wide, cheeks streaks and smeared a bit with mascara from the sobbing stage.]


I don't know what's happened or why we've got so many people missin' but m'goin' to find the Doctors and the rest of my friends.

[She leans a bit closer to the camera.]

Doctors, don't know if you can hear me or not, but m'tryin' to find a way to get you back, where ever you are.

[Several months ago after a particularly brutal curse, the Doctor with the hair soniced Rose's device up a bit so in the desert city, the video is probably static-filled and the audio cuts out a bit but it's likely better than expected.]

[And then swearing because she just cannot get a bit of good reception at all on her device.]

The City turned to glass, yeah? All right, lemme know where you're at, I'll come meet you. We'll figger somethin' out.

--Here. Sand City. Stay the--. Stay there. [ Yep, he's repeating it in case she couldn't hear it. ] We'll [ a large burst of static ] back.

[Charlie turns the device. Have a good look at nothing but sand for miles and miles, Rose.]

[She is so incredibly grateful to hear from him as well no matter how the staticy the video is. Her broad grin reflects that. She leans closer to the video, pushing her hair behind one ear.]

[See how she ignores the stay there edict?]

[She has such faith in the Doctors that yes, she is going to send everyone to them.]

[And the static just gets worse on Charlie's end. The only indication she's aware of this is the annoyance in the word.] Fuck!

[Rose gets the gist. In order to try and make up for Charlie's staticy audio Rose yells back at her.]

[ He shakes his head. She isn't coming through clearly either, but he figures bigger gestures will help. ]

'M helping the other Doctor. The one who isn't me, with the car. We're going to find our way to the Glass City. Promise.

[ He crosses his fingers in front of the camera to reassure. ]

You haven't heard from Jack or Ianto, have you? [Tosh settles back and waits for Rose to get there]

[Give her a second to work that one out. They've got quite enough Doctors and not nearly enough pronouns or descriptors to go around. She points her finger at the video.]

Better make good on that one.

[She'll stay put for the moment but she's going to look into what everyone else is doing.]

BE SAFE [Yes, it's yelled loudly as if that can make up for the static]

Nothing from either of them yet.

[She's on the move but she has to move carefully with the whole City being made of glass.]

At least one of the Doctors are in the desert...thing.

I woke up in this glass place as well. So did Fred.

[ He puts his hands up. ] Promise. Sure he's looking for you too. Future me.

'Least you're both together. [She pauses a moment, considering something.]

Tried usin' your teleport bit of magic?

Yeah. M'sure he is. [She gives him a brave smile but she worries anyway. She'll always worry that he's ditched her or that something has happened to her. It's just the way she is.]

[ He gestures his index fingers in a smile. Cheer up, Rose. ] I'll point him your way if I see him.

We can move within this City, but not to the desert one. We're going to try to find our way back out there.

Has this sort of thing happened here before?

[She responds by smiling for him.] 'Least I know you're okay. Keep it that way, yeah?

[ He doesn't even mind doing it. As long as Rose stays in a safe place, he'll do whatever he thinks will keep her there. ]

[Rose finally rounds a corner and sees Tosh, giving her a big smile and wave before continuing their conversation.]

Not far as I know. Never seen it seal us off from each other like this. I've only been here 'bout six months though.

[Tosh smiles back at Rose, clearly glad to see someone else she knows.] And the way the devices are acting when trying to transmit from one place to another - it doesn't quite make sense, does it?

Yeah. Never seen anything that communicates across dimensions so I don't think that's what we're dealin' with. Sorta more...barriers? Maybe? I dunno.

Barriers makes sense - you can cross from the desert into the city, can't you? I just wish I knew more about how these things operated.

I think they're workin' on it. M'not sure they know how yet but you can go to the edge of the glass city and see out to the desert. I know a little bit 'bout dimensions but nothin' like this.

I'm going to have to inspect a network device once things are back to normal - hopefully it'll still work if I take it apart and put it back together.

Huh. But you think it's different dimensions connected in such a way that one's visible from the other?

If you break it, they'll furnish you a new one.

[Rose thinks about that a moment.] If it is, there ought to be weak points. Somethin' like this, with this much stress is goin' to have cracks in it.

And what if I disassemble it and use the parts? [Tosh is having an Idea.]

Well, it's too bad all the gadgets in the basement have turned to glass. Though I'm not sure there would be anything useful there, anyway...

Far as I know, you'd get a new one. Might be a coupla days without one. [The smile on Rose's face is entirely approving. She has no idea what Tosh is up to but she likes the sound of it]

What you thinkin' 'bout buildin'? Might could help. [She's not the brightest girl in the world but she is clever and she sees things in a different way than a lot of people.]

Not as much anything to break through the barrier as to boost communications - I'm wondering if multiple transmitters from the communication devices might help the signal from one location to the other so that we can communicate properly.

That'd be brilliant. You can have a look at mine if you want. Doctor soniced it up a bit after we had some problems communicatin'. S'posed to show me his location too [Something that's not standard on City devices] but s'not workin' with this curse.

Really? I'd love to replicate a homing mechanism - I mean, it's not that hard, given the correct equipment, but just using what's in the devices is quite interesting. I wonder how difficult it is to alter the programming?

Yeah. Had a curse where I ended up lost. Sorta made us decide we needed to be able to keep track of each other. [Yeah, they're ridiculously co-dependent and stalkerish and have no concept of personal space]

Don't know. Doctor used the sonic to fix it and m'not sure how that works with the programmin'. He just sorta points it and fiddles and tinkers a bit and then...s'done.

Bloody high-tech alien devices. [Though Tosh's grumbling is good-natured, really.] I'd probably have to get a computer to connect it to in order to analyse the programming, anyway. Boosting the signal with multiple transmitters, on the other hand, is more of a hardware thing, much more feasible. Well. Slightly more feasible.

'Least it's an idea of somethin' to do once we all get back together, yeah? Never know when it'll come in handy again. Might could contact somethin' outside this place even.
