Do you guys do that thing with the cake and the singing on your birthdays? If not, is there something else?

It sounds complicated to have a father. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have a parent. It's like imagining how life would be different with four arms or if the City was underwater. It's too weird to think about seriously.

[Anonymous until curse ends]

I've kept secrets all my life. No--that's not quite true. I've kept one secret all my life. I kept myself secret, and let me tell you, it's not a good way to make friends. To some extent it was necessary, but I think I did it a little too well and in the end it hurt. Here--it doesn't matter. I don't know if anyone would even care and can any of you honestly tell me you feel safe in this place? But keeping secrets, keeping quiet, keeping on the fringe is a habit I can't get out of.

That's not what I want advice about, though. I don't know what anyone could tell me except to start asking and answering a damn question every now and then. No, what I'm wondering is how you figure out whether you can trust someone. How to know they would make a good friend. Preferably without getting into a life-or-death situation with them first.

Time's a funny thing. I was home for about a heartbeat or two, but as far as I can tell, I've been gone for weeks. Of course, given my history I'm not entirely confident that not remembering it doesn't mean I wasn't here, but it's not like there's really anyone I could ask. I guess that's what comes of being a loner. Well, I'm back. I guess I hope I can stay for a while.

Does anyone have anything electronic they need fixed? Honestly I'd take a look at a toaster at this point, but I'm hoping for something a little more interesting like a high-end television. I'm even willing to be paid in toast, if it's the former.

Also, does anyone know where I could find a movie camera? Film please, not looking for digital. I guess that's putting the cart before the horse since I'm not sure I could afford it just now, but still, a film buff can dream, right?

What's your favorite movie? And if someone wasn't a big cinema buff, what would you make them watch to show them an example of a really great movie? I have a feeling the answer's gonna differ for a lot of people. What we like best isn't always the 'best' thing, but the thing that fits, somehow, with ourselves...

But I'm asking for practical reasons, more than philosophical ones. This City has a movie theater, after all.

[ooc: Sparrow discovered video embedding and suddenly there was a reason to post. Sparrow's not much one for giving advice, but with the curse, (in)appropriate movie/music clips may be making an appearance.]

[A figure with long dark hair and a bloodstained shirt runs into frame and, not finding the expected door, trips and falls hands and knees to the pavement, hunching for a moment and clearly cursing, though breathlessly and quietly enough that the device can't quite pick up the words. After a moment, Sparrow begins to look around and spots the device, giving it a fairly worried look before picking it up and managing to turn it off.]
