Curses like this past weekend- No one should have to adjust to the kinds of things--

As always, there's never a real chance to rest between curses. I've always thought, if the City has one positive effect, it's building and reinforcing resilience.

You can never say back to normal, here, but I hope everyone is recovering well.

Maybe the less said about it, the better.

The life boats all docked on shore, about the same time the curse ended. At least as far as I could tell.

Do you think so? I think, in general, people pick up and move on much more quickly, here. Not that it breeds psychological health, but... There's something to be said for that.

I think, all things considered, I'm holding up relatively well. [A pause. Maybe that's all you can ever say.] How are you?

Some people do, I guess the ones who have been here long enough to expect what's coming. For the newbies, not so much. Either way, it's not healthy. Everybody needs a break.

I'm good. I start back at the hospital Monday so I'm just biding my time and trying to convince Cinna to let me paint the living room alizarin crimson.

[She always finds this sort of thing unsettling. Talking to people who shouldn't, from her perspective, actually exist.]

You wrote a letter, over the weekend? I'm afraid putting it in the mail wouldn't do any good.

Ah, yes, that. No, I don't think it would reach whatever publisher I supposedly had in 1912 at this point. [His voice is tinged with a bit of humor on that first part.] I never did get the chance to thank you for taking it.

The lifeboats ran ashore around midnight, when the curse ended. It was disorienting, but as far as I could tell, everyone on the boats headed home safely.

Curses like that one are... difficult, even in the best cases. [Which she is assuming his wasn't.]
