121 Howls: I Will Go Down With This Ship
The water was rushing in everywhere and people were well into panic mode. The rumors that there weren't enough lifeboats had everyone pushing and shoving desperately to try and get above decks. The scent of everyone's panic was so strong that it had Mercy fighting the coyote part of herself that wanted to run and hide.
She managed to wade her way from her berth in steerage into the crowd, only to find that the way up had been barred. They weren't going to get out. At least not this way.
In her explorations of the ship, she'd found a back way for crew access. It wouldn't be the easiest thing to get to in the rapidly filling corridors, but if she was brave enough she might be able to help at least a few of the women and their children escape that way.
Mercy quietly collected all she could and led them back. As the water rose and the children began to have difficulty, she shifted, swimming out of her skirts to grab the children's clothes in her teeth and drag them to the stairway. She made trip after trip, dragging children to their mothers, shivering in the icy water as her small coyote body lost more and more heat.
She wasn't going to make it out, but maybe, just maybe some of those she helped would survive.
[Open for anyone who wants to help her save some people or try and figure out what a coyote's doing on board.]

WHAT THE HELL IS A WOLF THING DOING ON THIS SHIP?? not that elliot knew anything about ships, having never been on one before this, but he was pretty sure there was some sort of rule against having them onboard.
any normal person, particularly a normal person in the middle of a crisis such as this, no doubt would have gone running in the other direction, screaming their heads off in a madcap attempt to slosh towards the nearest lifeboat. but apparently elliot is not normal. ]
Hey! What are you doing to those people?

Help the beast, for God's sake! It's trying to save the children!

well in that case. the expression on elliot's face changes, going from one of shock to one of resolve and determination. sloshing through the water, he grabs a child in each hand, dragging them firmly but carefully through the water to where their families wait.
he follows the coyote's lead, though he has enough sense (or perhaps not enough sense) to ask during one of the trips: ]
Can we fit all of them on the lifeboats?
