18 - voice/video - slug plot

[The feed starts off as a voice one, silence, static, but then laughter slowly creeps in. It’s cute, but creepy.]

Mmmhahahahahahaha!

I wonder where they are? My knight in shining armor and my true knight!

[She makes a soft sound, amused at what she just said, before a melodramatic sigh ends her amusement.]

Flynn, Yuri, why don’t you be dears and pick your princess up from the desert? It’s not nice to leave her out here, all hot and sweaty. Oh, it’s terrible!

[It’s easy to tell it’s Estelle speaking now, but there’s something terribly off.

It’s then that the video feed turns on, showing Estelle:



She laughs some more, amused, obviously not herself.]

Perhaps this brings back memories, your girl under some kind of control. Oh, so much fun!

[Rita can't be too far from Estelle, not at a time like this, but it's on the device that she sees this. And she's horrified. Having these slugs--those parasites--around again is bad enough, but they have Estelle this time.]

[Estelle's probably not in control. Those things are...]

Don't you dare make her do anything, you hear me?!

Why would I make her do anything?

[Her voice feigns hurt, shock, as does her expression.]

She's as harmless as they come!

[For her part, Rita's shaking with fury. Just the idea that one of these things has Estelle--and remembering what happened the last time they appeared--is enough to send her into a rage.]

Let her go!

[firstaid]

Let her go?

[She pauses, tapping her forefinger against her chin, letting out a thoughtful hum while swaying her head back and forth.]

Let her go... Oh, I don't think I want to do that!

I don't care what you want, you...you freak!

Get out of her head!

[It hurts to shout this at Estelle, even if it is directed at the parasite controlling her.]

Oh, you think I'm going to leave because you asked. Now, should I leave, should I?

[Obviously the answer's no, but digging through Estelle's memories it can see the mage can get worked up rather easily. This should be fun!]

And it's so right. Rita snaps angrily in reply.]

Leave her alone? Oh, I don't think so. I would say "maybe I should come to you instead", but I don't think I want to do that.

[It knows of Estelle's Recover skill. While it's not positive it would have an effect, it doesn't want to find out if it will.]

Coward!

[She glowers. As scared as she is, she's prepared to try and dare it to come after her instead of Estelle. She has Tyr's fire rune; she can burn anything that gets too close...]

Perhaps I am, but as of right now, I seem to hold the better chips.

[And it knows how to play them, too. Oh, this is so much fun, much fun! Taunting this girl is making everything so worth it.]

[She just...needs to figure out how to do it without hurting Estelle.]

[It's threatened, but no matter, it will stay hidden from her. That would be the best approach while it goes to find the two it had called out from before.]

[She is trying to figure out where Estelle could be. There's lots of places in this safe zone, though.]
